Sandy Hook was the event that gave Ms. Feinstein the reason (ostensibly) to submit her obviously pre-written bill.

How many people died there?

If her aim is to save lives, she should visit the Mother's Against Drunk Driving website. They claim that 27 people are killed every day because of drunk driving.

But we know that her aim is to disarm us, not save lives. Otherwise, she would ban something that is not Constitutionally protected, and would not harm anyone if it was banned.

Actually worse I did not have a chance to address that provision....yes when you go to register your weapons the local PD will be informed(they have not been clear on all the details) I doubt the local PDs can handle the amount of people if even 10% of gun owners went to register their guns. But yes the local PD will be made aware of what guns you have either by the Feds informing them or by some other means....so lets say someone has been collecting for say 10 years and has 10 guns and a few are (assault weapons) First I would wager the Local PD would not want people with (to many guns like that in their district) so they could say well it does not violate local laws or some BS they put into place.
Listen this whole thing has not been well thought out, just passing it (if it passes) is the first step the infrastructure needed to actually make this work is far more than they have in place now.
Anyone who has a tax stamp for an NFA weapon will tell you, they can come into your home or place of business *where the nfa weapon is kept* at ANY Time the ATF chooses. And most have never been visited or just visited once in over 6-7 years and I know one many who has never been visited in over a dozen years. They have Very few agents to even do that, so how the hell can they cover 300+ million guns they CAN'T!

And if this did pass and people started to take their guns into the Police etc to permit and have approved and the local PD or others started to Keep or not let you have some of your guns, once the news of that started to spread you would see this whole process SLAM TO A HALT IMMEDIATELY! No one would be doing it and the feds would have a bigger problem on their hands.

So what are they going to do...we all know it is something but what? And I really don't think congress will pass this.....so now what

Why would a civilian weapon need a military characteristic? And I regard her other points as being very sane.
reply to post by AngryCymraeg

A gun shoots, that is a "military characteristic".
Just about any pistol can be/was used in the military.
The 1911 was a military pistol, and it only holds 7-10 rounds.
There is no such thing as military characteristic.
An 870 with a pistol grip is the same thing as an 870 without one.
The laws they want to pass are about control and money only, they don't care about people who have died.
Not one gun ban/law has ever saved a life.

You want the truth? Here it is.

“Our main agenda is to have ALL guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed.” -Sarah Brady

No, her aim is to save lives, that's why she wants to tax ammo and mags.

We know it's not about saving lives, they could save lives by banning gun free zones.
They just want to take away our guns and profit off the slain children with their greed for tax money..

What does that say and do about people that allready own assault weapons? It just makes them worth more money, and the problem is not resolved as there are still those type of weapons out there. It just makes no sense to punish the law abidding citizens. They really need to get this straight and learn and face that the problem is mental illness, not punishing good abidding citizens.

When people act out like in the CT shooting, I'm pretty sure they are not concearned about following laws and rules.

Tooth you are Wrong the weapons will NOT be worth more money
that is one reason why they want to try to do it this way, if you cannot transfer, sell, barter or leave to someone on your death the weapons are worth NOTHING
you don't get it
if you cant EVER sell it or transfer it again it is not worth anything read my previous posts
All the people inflating prices now will be dumping things for next too nothing if this ban passed as they would be selling everything they didnt want for themselves because they could never sell it again.

So that is another reason they may even try a buy back plan for those who cannot afford to keep guns and need money etc....they will try to divide anyway possible

Am I the only one who understands that just because a bill is worded a certain way, before it even enters the first committee ( and there are usually several) doesn't mean that it can't or won't be changed, broadened, restricted or die in committee, all together???

Does anyone on this site even understand how a bill becomes law? Why on earth are we arguing about what we are going to do, WHEN Fienstein's dream bill makes it into the books? It's like most of us have already conceded this fact, and are just squabbling about the crumbs that may, or may not, be left in it's wake?

Seriously?

At the worst, all we will get, is a watered down version, probably much akin to the AWB enacted during the Clinton era, but even this can't pass legislative muster! There are NO legitimate facts that prove the ban worked, or that crime exploded after it expired! NONE!

This is just typical status quo, bureaucratic BS. THAT'S IT!!! More political, partisan hogwash, to make the stuffed shirts feel important! And, to make their constituancy feel represented.

Can you say, "Dog & Pony" show...?

And speaking of which, there is a wrinkle in this issue that you guys haven't considered. Most people in the general populace don't know about this, but due to my former job, I had to know for the sake of compliance.

Under the PATRIOT Act, and the auspices of DHS, there is a thing called CSAT. (Chemical Security Assessment Tool). Companies in the United States must submit what is called a "Top Screening" and disclose whether they have chemicals that are on the DHS's "list of chemicals of concern".

www.dhs.gov...

These are chemicals that DHS have concocted SOME reason for being concerned that if they fell into "terrorists" hands, would be a threat to the US infrastructure. The threats are classified by Release, Theft or Sabatoge/Contamination.

As you read through the list you will notice that potassium nitrate (saltpetre) is on the list. One of the key components of gun powder. It is classified as a "theft" risk that if stolen by "terrorists" can be used to cause harm/destruction (because it can then be used to make ammo!)

Okay, what the general public doesn't know is that DHS has some of the broadest, most unfettered powers associated with the CSAT. They can arrive at a given facility, take control of it, bar entry to it by the owner (or anyone else for that matter) and basically shut the facility down. THEY DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE CAUSE NOR DO THEY NEED A COURT ORDER TO DO SO.

For every name on this "National gun register", that address can be assumed to have potassium nitrate on the property. And that's all the DHS needs under their unbounded powers is a reasonable suspicion that a "chemical of concern" is on a property. And they don't have to prove their concern to anyone...they can just act on it. (And they have all the 9 mm semi-auto Rugers and all the .223 ammo now, so there you go.)

So...think about what you're signing up for when you sign your name on the dotted line.

Not at all. But that was the BIGGEST atrocity committed against the public, under the guise of necessity, ever engineered in the History of the US Congress. I still don't know HOW that got through.
I assume it was the aforementioned status quo, where enough of it's detractors, got something in return for their vote...
But how does that compare to this???
How many voters, cast their lots, in opposition to their representatives, over the Patriot Act?

And wasn't that the one with Pelosi making her famous comment, "We have to pass it, to know what's in it"? Or was that Obamacare?

How on EARTH can people still stand behind someone like that, I have absolutely no idea...

The PATRIOT Act was passed under Bush. That booger belongs to him and the Congress in power at that time.

Yes, I'm aware of that. What I don't recall, is which "side" controlled Congress at the time.

As for "W", I always pictured him, listening to one of his daddy's hand picked "advisors" spinning everything to him, like an embellished bedtime story...Convincing him that he needed to do certain things, even if his gut was against them, to ensure that the evil boogeymen of the world, wouldn't overrun us, and turn him into their new King's court jester...

Yes, I know how a bill becomes a law because I was raised on Schoolhouse Rock.

www.youtube.com...

I believe we are discussing the THREAT of such a proposition. That's a legitimate thing to do. This bill shouldn't even be introduced. It's a treasonous act to introduce it. And a "watered down" version probably won't be too slick either. If you want to wait until the 11th hour to discuss what you're going to do next, that's fine by me, but why don't you let the rest of us discuss it NOW.

The Congress in power at the time were the Neo-Cons.

en.wikipedia.org...

I'm a Republican, but I call it like I see it. The crazy Gingrich "Republican Agenda" was in full force. Both parties have sold us down the river....been happening for over a decade now.

Perhaps, you misunderstood the concern I leveled, through my post...I was referring to all of the rhetoric being offered from an after-the-fact, standpoint. As for those of us who are actually discussing this issue, in an attempt to further our understanding of, as well as voice our contempt for it, well, those were not my intended target.

Also, I'm quite familiar with PBS programming, from the 70's and 80's, as I'm in my 5th decade on this planet.
The truth being told...I AM just a Bill....Literally! That's my name.....

As for the bill in question, similar bills, are brought before Congress every single session! This is no surprise. What should be a concern, though, is how many minds may be altered or clouded right now, or not thinking clearly, considering the current media-induced, negative political climate!

Nice to meet you, Bill. By your 6th decade, I hope you become a Law. lol

And A - MEN on your comment. I think we're all concerned about how the politicians who want to do this, and their tool the MSM, are fear-mongering ahead of this latest push.

That's what has us talking...lol.

Well something interesting is happening, quite a few school districts are taking teachers and showing them how to shoot and getting them qualified on the shooting range. I was surprised to see how many are actually doing it, Hell Utah is full speed ahead on the armed teachers and have already started training them.

As far as the Patriot act is concerned yes I agree a 1000% it was the worst and most dangerous bill passed period
Its implications are so far reaching......I just think something else is going to happen to push this gun grab agenda

But how does that compare to this???

In that a bill that is unconstitutional and outlandish can be forced on the American people.... passed into law.

You say they forced the Patriot Act through under the guise of necessity. That is exactly what they will do in the case of the gun ban. Don't be surprised if there is a mass shooting a day or two before the bill comes up to a vote. Maybe a group of kindergartners on a field trip to an retirement home.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

Here's a scary thought...What if MSM isn't necessarily their tool, but merely another method utilized by the real puppet-masters...And, while the political egotists, are tuning in to catch yet another glimpse of their own highly revelled pompousness, they are also subjecting themselves, (as well as their trusted, crumb-chasing, family and friends) to the constant psychological warfare, that is the media?

Well, I can't argue with you on one consideration....the MSM have become a nation-wide (hell global) exercise in PSYOPs.
