Well i couldn't agree more!
I'm sure there are many other lurkers like myself who have been mystified by this but truth is, i have had no will to participate in a discussion on this site about anything lately as i've seen this whole site is overrun with nasty little trolls who hate alternative opinions or just opinions in general and derail any real information and topics.

At least this thread gave me the motivation to find my password and log in.

Should be an interesting couple of weeks.

You guys created the "political madness" forum as soon as people started criticizing Obama. In my opinion you id this to follow the MSM narrative of Obama criticism being racist or only coming from crazy people. There was no such forum during the Bush years. In fact you promoted crazy conspiracies against Bush.

What if all of the conspiracies presented on this website are nothing more than conspiracies....
What if this website is government based...
What if they want the masses to be in constant paranoia and believing in conspiracies because it helps them carry out thier "agenda"....
What if the government is just doing what is best for the time being...
What if everything is not Obama's fault, but rather his cabinet members....
What if both republicans and democrats in congress have a undisclosed "agenda"...
What if we stopped dividing people by democrats and republicans and brought a new "party" to the table....

What if this website is full of crazed folks who read waaaaayyyy to much into the little things that don't matter...

eh...

Why do you think the fiscal cliff will be a disaster?

Government spending gets cut, taxes increase, the deficit is cut in half for 2013.

Where's the problem in that?

When 1 out of 2 Americans are out of work and small business are running out of the country or closing down, followed by a weak dollar and household debt at an all time high, along with food stamp use up at an all time high, then they decide not to pay their debts because of falling off the cliff, you have a recipe for extreme civil unrest.

Some of it is rearing it's ugly head already, the cliff will only make it more of a reality. Idle hands and an unhappy populace is the cause for unrest and can be a pivotal factor in the USA's future.

I noticed this too and found it odd but then just figured this site is run by Democrats, for the most part that notion is widely believed by myself and the many I know who peruse (while laughing in the background of course) this site.

Fact is this is one extreme viewpoint from a lot of crackpots who are paranoid to the point of irrationality.
It does make for good entertainment though.
It's rare that this site and it's members provides facts for the stories they conjure. It's a great way to get ideas to write books and such though.

In the end, this site is not about facts and research, its about debate and decorum with a heavy dose of administration.

Also, with the recent push to avoid any gun debates and the administrators constant message about trying to keep those debates on track 'or else' shows me one thing: They are on the side of no further regulation of gun laws. They claim it's about respect for the families and those who might get pointed out as part of the conspiracy (which is often done daily here in other topics, but this one it's forbidden for some reason) but we all know the truth, they are censoring us.

Denying ignorance is another way of saying "Do what we say, not what we do".
We all know something was not right with some of the facts of the Newton shooting, instead of letting us get to the truth they have effectively deflected us off that subject entirely.

This post is more deflection. So ask yourself this, if they are not out to find the truth and do much to stop us from discussing it, who's side is ATS on? What do they stand to gain from shutting down that discussion?

I doubt it's a conspiracy and it has more to do with who is paying them to advertise here and their disdain for that particular topic. Chances are those who paid for ads here complained that with their ads, came this speculation and they didn't want to be associated with that. Hence the administrative move to quash the discussion and try to guilt us into shutting up.

Just a mere observation but I am sure I am not far from the truth. Either ATS is there to help with disinfo, or their only interest is making a few bucks off us (those who don't block ads anyways, who doesn't block ads today?).
Don't fool yourself into thinking ATS cares. Yes, as long as this site provides them with a good living they will care, otherwise, if you disturb the bottom line it's all over. Mix that in with a few moderators who are fanatics about conspiracies and you have yourself a money making machine.

The bottom line affects everything. Not everything is conspiracy, but most everything is bias.

Uh, I've always been open on the boards in regards to my political leanings. I consider GWB to have been pretty damn liberal, today's GOP as being a liberalized, marginalized conservative movement in name alone, and have absolutely no use for Obama. ATS Staff is a pretty even mix of political leanings but, I cannot stress this enough, those political ideologies do not play any role in the way the site is run or moderated. The US Political Madness forum was taken in the direction it currently sits by the membership, not by the Staff. The true intent of the forum was to cover issues very much like the one I raised in this OP, attempts by US politicians and their media puppets to divide and conquer the masses utilizing little more than partisan rantings and threats of ideological specters coming to attack some phantom tennant of one side or the other.

I don't watch the news. I read the news online and I do admit to listening to the radio quite a bit. Otherwise, you'll rarely find CNN, FOXNews, MSNBC, or even the network nightlies on my television. I essentially stopped watching televised news after becoming disgusted at the spectacle they turned 911 into. That places me in a minority of Americans. It also has given me an interesting vantage point from which to observe media manipulation of the masses. I have witnessed a couple of doozies in that time.
1. The 2008 self fulfilling Wall Street crash hysteria. The Stock Market just might have been able to right itself in 2008 if it hadn't been for a fully manipulated media doom & gloom storyline that was very much needed by the politicians so that they could redistribute wealth up the ladder to the nation's corporations. It was an interesting exercise, watching people in a mad panic almost like Pavlov's dogs at the sound of a bell, just because the media was incessantly training them to be in fear.
2. Osama bin Laden's "death". THIS, I believe, was the grandaddy of all media manipulations. I'd wager over 80% of America tuned in to the news to watch some form of coverage or other and boy did this one work. Even here on ATS, anyone who questioned the death, asked for even a shred of evidence supporting the death, or failed to demonstrate enough rejoicing over the report was surged upon by the masses. It was truly ridiculous to witness. I think that was the "smoking gun" of proof that the politically driven media manipulation, potentially even delving into brainwashing and mind control, was very much real and very much happening. You have more people in this country who question the existance of an afterlife which has presented far more in-support evidence than you had questioning the death of OBL which presented absolutely NO evidence in support.
3. November/December 2012 has been a hodgepodge of rapid fire distractions and, at least in regards to both Hurricane Sandy and Sandy Hook, rapid fire DEMANDS for societal change by the media. The media would have the world believe that the majority of Americans are clammoring for carbon credits to fight hurricanes and gun control laws to fight crime. Again, self fulfilling prophecy in action. They will repeat the lie until the pleebs believe the lie and, more importantly, until the pleebs begin to feel left out of the majority and change their own beliefs to ensure they belong to something and stand with all the others. This serves multiple masters. It distracts attention away from the economic doomsday (and I mean doomsday to us, the people.)

There seems to be a disconnect of folks who believe doomsday must mean the US will collapse and crumble... I'll lay my cards on the table, I don't give a crap about today's US anymore. I only care about my family, my community, and my state... in that order, and how we will all do in this economic whirlwind of fail. THAT is the doomsday. We've got a lot of middle class people who had to budget to the bone just to be able to live somewhat normally in 2012. Anyone who doesn't realize that an additional $3000 in taxes, higher medical premiums and fees thanks to Obamacare, higher interest rates on everything thanks to Congress' mishandling, increases in commodity prices thanks to the FED's inflation porn infatuation, and all the little nickel and diming horsecrap the various social engineers in the governments local and national are pushing for represent a household budget doomsday is either delusional or a hell of a lot better off financially than 99% of the nation is. Yeah, folks can also play the "You don't need cable, you don't need to eat at restaurants, you don't need two cars, etc" card all they want... Hey, you know what? WHY THE HELL ARE ANY OF US WORKING? Who here is working hard because they eagerly want to send more money to the government? I sure as hell don't. I work to provide more for my family. I actually want my kids to be able to have more ammenities than I grew up with. I'd like to be able to take my wife out to dinner here and there. You know, things that were considered middle class and upper middle class activities and ammenities worthy of folks with professional college degrees 20 years ago? Now it just seems like those degrees were good for making the government and regulators more money each year and so long as we get a few scraps from our own paychecks we should just shut up and take it.

That is the real doomsday. Not the nonsense about the government collapsing or the US missing a debt payment. Frankly, I wish that was the real doomsday... then I really wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I am not dependant upon the United States government and their handouts to provide for my family, rather I am downtrodden by the US government which steals the funds they use for those handouts and gifts from me and my family, forcing me to budget less than I actually earn through my labors so that I can provide for my family. If that government truly did colapse, I would feel very much like the slave who learns the master has died. Yes, large changes would be facing me and my family, but the scent of actual freedom and the sudden ability to work for my own benefit for a change would sure be sweet.

I'm with you Burdman and I can think of a few others on these boards who also share your sentiments. I noticed these media distractions during the elections as well. Up until November I was following our economic crisis and reading every thread I could on the subject and have come to respect a lot of members who work hard and put out good information on the regular. Then about halfway through October there was a sudden decrease in the number of threads pertaining to the economy, it was like everyone just suddenly forgot about it. Then when a thread was created that talked about, it quickly fell to the abyss after maybe a page or two of posts. I know I posted one or two threads talking about things like our unemployment numbers and rising debt.

As one of many Americans living week to week (along with the rest of my family), I am very worried about the fiscal cliff. I don't know how I'm going to afford to live with the rise in taxes. Also I currently go to school using the 9/11 G.I. Bill and have one semester before I finish college. What happens if one of the many cuts coming down the pipeline is to the VA and all of a sudden I can't finish my final semester? These are all worries that I have been pondering over the last few months.

You are right that the media is distracting the public with the whole gun control mess, but it really does need addressing since they are talking about doing this RIGHT before we plummet over the fiscal cliff. I foresee riots in the streets when people realize that they can no longer afford to live and the government won't be giving them anymore social program assistance. I'm sure the elites realize this as well and that's why there has been a huge push to take guns away from Americans.

People keep saying look to Greece and Spain for how it will be in the US. I disagree, I think its going to be worse. First, we aren't in the EU, so no bailout for our country. Not that any other country could afford to bail us out anyways since our debt is just too large. Second, we as a populous are heavily armed. Even if you don't own a gun, chances are highly likely that one of your friends has one they can loan you. Third our country is bigger than Spain and Greece combined. We have states larger than those countries. This means that we have a FAR larger population to reel in when we start going nuts.

This problem is so dire that I fear that our country may not survive this collapse. We may break down into a civil war and come out of it as multiple countries. We all know that the economies of the world are all tightly connected and when one suffers, they all suffer. So if we fall then the rest of the world will quickly follow suit causing worldwide panic and border wars that will easily be able to escalate to a world war. If this happens, America won't be the big guy on campus anymore because we won't be able to afford to pay our military anymore and we'd already be wrestling with our internal disputes. I'm sure there are plenty of countries who are friendly with us now but will jump at the opportunity to put us in our place because of our world police mentality.

Now I may just have a very active imagination, but the way I see it the collapse that we are looking at is unprecedented in modern history. But if you want a good thing to relate to then look at the Roman Empire. It too fell to internal corruption and greed and plunged Europe into several centuries of ignorance.

In the end, everything is related. Gun control, the fiscal cliff, our debt, the world debt, the middle east issues, EVERYTHING. To address each issue as an independent issue is where we are wrong. All these issues are a long line of dominoes and they are just waiting for that first small push.
