i know it mite be unrelated, but its kinda like the glow on the orange orb ufos i see around my area ,

It doesn't have to be cold at low altitudes. It's ice in the upper atmosphere that causes it. There's been a cold front moving through most of the US lately, that's left quite a bit of ice in the upper atmosphere. There has been thundersnow, tornadoes, and other odd weather today from Texas up to Maine.
