IN GENERAL, NON-SPECIFIC TERMS: Based on the most recent Uniform Crime Report (compiled by the FBI), you have about a .000054 chance per year (nationwide, local stats are varied). multiplying that by the average life span (about 70 years), you get about a .00378 chance of being murdered in your lifetime.

But what are the odds of dying from your own invention?
7 inventors killed by their inventions

Lol, I'd say that number is altered greatly by where you live.

Absolutely. My country only has around 1 murder every 20+ years
but we can't really be compared to normal statistics in my opinion. Too small and too isolated.

Edit to add to OP:
I may have to have a word with my son about the nutty things he wants to invent

If you include doctors murdering patients by critical errors, this figure goes WAY up.

I think the math is wrong, well overall anyway.
I believe I have a much lower chance as I think I may be able to murder my attempted murderer first.
Many facts and figures are missing from the many different outcomes.
I wonder how many of the murdered had a chance to save their lives but instead spent their chance on silly words like PLEASE and WHY??!!

I agree, I think the stats depend on where you live so my guess is 0.038461538, slightly higher also.

I don't think anyone can rely on multiplying it by anything based on an average of life expectancy.

Better than the Dark Ages, though!

And if you count Dinosaur times, those must have been some murdering beasts.
