I found out this morning that Levon Helm had left us this year. For those of us who are too young or just don't know Levon was from Arkansas and was
the drummer of The Band, which started out as a back up band for various musicians until they performed this service for Bob Dylan. If you haven't
seen the film by Martin Scorsese "The Last Waltz" I suggest you look it up. Levon also appeared in several films including one with Wilford Brimley,
portrayed Ridley in The Right Stuff, and most recently appeared in The Shooter with Mark Wahlberg and Danny Glover
Here is a clip from that film, a song that Levon wrote and features him prominently on the drums, also appearing are The Staples Family. You might
remember the daughters as The Staple Singers, and Pop Staples appeared in "Wag The Dog" performing a duet with Willie Nelson.
Enjoy...
Mavis says it best at the end; "Beautiful"
Levon was 72 when he died on April 19th of this year. Rest In Peace Levon. Sorry to see you go. I always wanted to meet you.
