Some may say I have a simple virus. An inflammation of the nasal cavity, some congestion in the lungs, an irritated throat brought on by coughing. Simply taking antihistamines and cough suppressants for a few days should take care of it.
Or as my wife says, "Suck it up, buttercup"

But I see it as a massive assault on my immune system. A systematic attempt to stop me from breathing, and a conspiracy of massive proportions between me and my sinuses. A sure and slow death from which there is no escape. Am I facing certain death-doom with courage? Yes. Am I facing my demise with the strength of thousands? Absolutely.
Do I get any help from the wife?
Not a damned bit.

I will attempt to chronicle my slow and painful descent without help of wife, medical community, or hospice. My runny nose, and tiny cough being my final epitaph and insult hurled at those who mocked me in my illness.

As the title suggests, there should be a clause in the marriage contract for husbands suffering from such debilitating illnesses.

Now excuse me, I have to blow my nose.

Yes a clause in marriage that says ' in sickness and Heath .... Unless the case of man flu. Then wife gets a weeks holiday away from husband' . I'm sure you'll live & I hope your poor wife get though it. Sending my thoughts & love to her at this trying time

Mock me if you will, the assault on my body from an obviously alien-origin virus will eventually be won! (Unless I fall due to terminal whining)

My wife, should honour her vows and bathe me in medicated soaps while offering me soothing balms in the form of hot toddy's.
