firstly

if a gun is out of circulation.....that particular weapons potential to kill is no more

im not saying removing guns will stop murders

im saying removing guns will stop mass shootings

without a gun...or if a killer has small arms...he would be easier to tackle before 10+ murders...

im just saying...if im in a shopping mall, and a dudes kicking off with an 8 bullet pistol...he would be easier to tackle while reloading, than if he had a 30+ mag.....

im not saying get rid of your guns...just tone it down..make it harder to commit mass murder...

peace

Goddamn, you people are so stupid.

You can't repeal the second amendment. You can't get rid of any of the Bill of Rights. They are inalienable rights, they cannot be taken away. They exist prior to any man-made document.

sorry can't tone it down. shopping malls are gun free zones. if someone has a 30 round clip in a rifle, i would love to have a 15 round clip in a .45 for one shot in the back of the neck and 14 if i see them twitching. mass murder, hmm is there an exact umber of corpses from t square? the communists had full auto ak-47's, tanks, when one kills 20+ on a spree how many does a division kill in four days? not all of the communist soldiers would have thought they would be quelling democracy in this manner but enough did. wounded knee, with the tech they had then indians died. the trail of tears, gettysburgh, my lai, u.s. soldiers had better act sensitive towards how not to create another iron curtain. my relatives in the army, who served in the navy fighting, should do a heavy compare and contrast to what their superiors might order them to do and what we and others have done in the past. i was talking to someone from operation new dawn i think it was on his truck, and he said apart from fighting the enemy, they liked interacting with friendlies. he was an example of americana poor, perfect, unshaken by hard times chin up kind of guy but you kind of knew that he had really hard times then. one thing i don't want is a divide and conquer situation where we lose friends family and loved ones because of executive orders nor do i want to rely on them every step of the way. i just want us, the military and everyone to be cool with one another. out in the state i live you can openly carry assault weapons ans easily buy them i looked in wikipedia, and no mass shootings for my state. i have seen people in trucks with an m4, a tactical shotgun, and a marlin lever action in the back in a mall parking lot with trucks housing similar variants. no shootings in my state like over on the east coast doing drive bys, murders, rape and robbery at gunpoint. we need the military here to drink, party and have fun with. here we got some allies not too effected by barry soetoro or whatever barack calls himself and not too many of them have any worry about us. none of us are model citizens but no mass shootings and i am allowed to have my semi auto rifles and pistols in plain view on my person. i don't because i would be a target for a mass shooter. i do open carry in the wilderness though, mountain lions, bears, moose are not easy to defend from unless you are there long enough to tame a mountain like steve french(i am a trailerpark boy by the way)

2% of 300 million is 6 million.

8% of 50 million is about 4 million.

You've actually just proven that the US has almost twice the rate of violent crime than the UK

Lol what?

It is amazing how gun control advocates in foreign nations such as the U.K. beleive they have the solution for America's problems as they relate to gun crime and violence here. After relinquishing their own firearms in a futile attempt to end gun violence in the U.K., news reports cite statistics that gun crime in England and Wales "soared by 35% last year".

Link: Gun Crime Soars in England Where Guns Are Banned

That news article is dated only a week ago! "Handguns have been used in 46% more offences". How is this possible in a country where guns are outlawed?

Could it be that in outlawing firearms in the U.K. the law-abiding citizen surrendered their means of defense, the criminal element saw their weakness, and there was now little if anything that anyone could do to prevent these crimes from happening?

There are quite a few ATS members from the U.K. spouting off at the mouth as to how great things will be in the United States if we were to ban firearms here... if we were to abolish the Second Amendment rights which we all hold as dear to us as we do the very right to live. Maybe it would be prudent if these friends from the U.K. cleaned up their own back yards first before telling us Americans how we should live our lives.

Oh,oh here we go another 'bloody British' thread. So in the present spirit of transatlantic love let me be frank.

I've always been happy to get into the old US / UK debate.Let me paint you a scene.

Picture your cousin,13 maybe with rich parents, loud and insistent, absolutely convinced of his own worth due to the familes bank account yet totally captivated by shiney objects yet family is family, haha

P.s i'm pulling your collective national leg.lol.

Nah seriously though I honestly cannot blame US members for getting their backs up over some opinion that's come from my side of the ocean.

Don't get me wrong I fully behind our stance on guns in the UK and when I heard statements like the only way to stop a bad man with a gun is give a good guy a gun it sends a cold chill thru me

That sounds so horribly back to front, some kind of twisted logic and in the UK that's completely true but we're discussing the US where it's fundamentally different, besides I'vd never even set foot on the US so in reality I don't know what it's actually like to live there.

I've no place telling Americans what to do over guns or have any idea what will work or not.So all I can say is I feel for the families involved,it's a tragedy in a real sense but I've no right to preach or tell anyone what the cause or whats to blame.

If the shoe was on the other foot I'd be quickly up in arms over it.

So just remember although many of us in the UK are quick to wind up our American cousins, good naturedly I might add many of us feel it's wrong to get opinionated about gun law despite our personal views

well i suggest saving up and vacationing in alaska or a state where open carry is legal, sought after and or encouraged. you will see that were quite mellow with our semi autos in the sense we walk softly and carry hi cap mags.. i'm collecting wwII allied guns to celebrate diversity and a victorious alliance over countries who banned guns getting carried away with their own manipulation of rights gone awry. also i encourage the uk citizens to have their voice heard be it by migration to america or however they got the beatles knighted. i suggest parliament examines the obvious negative in gun control that even the axis had put in place in the second world war resulting in malicious democide. also, PLEASE send me some of your finest brandy

I want to ask the British that do hold this opinion a question: What do you think your ancestors said to the Romans when they asked them to disarm? The problem is, the Brits simply no longer historically understand why the 2nd amendment was put into place. And I'm sure there are Brits out there that would absolutely love to see their colonies back under their rule (I can think of at least one). Trust me, this is not a shot at the Brits. I know most Brits don't think this way. But when the issue of gun control comes up, the Brits should have absolutely no voice or opinion in it when it comes to America. Historically speaking, we don't want to hear it from you. And at least 30,000 Americans hold that same opinion because guess what? You guys just might be getting Piers Morgan back.

The British are coming the British are coming! Well... not so much, one redcoat is already here and about to be deported!

I'd also like to talk to those that think that "in this day and age... blah blah". Hitler was less than a hundred years ago. And as corrupt as the American Government seems to be, handing your guns over seems insane in my opinion.

Our main agenda is to have ALL guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed.”
Sarah Brady quote

All this arguing over guns. Guns are not the underlying issue. This is an assault on the second amendment in order to force Socialism on America. They can not achieve Socialism in America as long as the sevond amendment exists. They can not destroy the Constitution as long as the second amendment exists. Addressing mental health laws would have the most effect on mass murders. It is only a gun issue because the second amendment is in the way of creating Socialism.

Firstly: The link that your link links to is from 2003.
Why don't you try and dredge up something a little more recent or wouldn't that fit with your agenda?

Secondly: Guns aren't banned in the UK. They are however heavily licenced.

Thirdly: If the US was able to look after it's mess on it's own then no other countries would be bothered. You can't so that's why they are.

By the way my view on guns are that Hunting rifles, shot guns and hand guns should be ok as they are have legitimate uses but full qutomatic guns no....

You know as much about " Britain" as you feel "Britain" knows about the USA.
Lets be clear about something. Britain doesnt actually feel and act like "Britain" anymore. Im English and I long for the day when we rid ourselves of Scotland and Wales leaving us without the financial millstone that has been round our neck for centuries. Thats not just an isolated opinion either, most English people wouldnt care if our union was split tomorrow. What that also means is that the notion that we would love to have colonies back is utter bull, we certainly dont want the USA!!!!
Well, ok MAYBE Australia and New Zealand, we are fond of them and they are more culturally closer to us than the USA is anyday of the week. We tend to have a soft spot for Canada too, infact, if we are honest, there is little affection for the US from this side of the pond and the "Special relationship" that has been hawked around by Politicians is purely political from our point of view. There is nothing special in a one sided "relationship" when you bend us over and **** us up the **** at will, is there!
All that may not seem relevent to you but it becomes far more relevent when you look at how the "United" States are constructed. Its obvious from this side of the pond that you are nothing more than a lash up of independent countries held together by a constitution that was created in the days when you were ridding "Injuns" from the land you seized and keeping the likes of Billy the Kid at bay.
Ok, thats a pretty OTT analogy but, in essence, from our perspective, you view the constitution as unchangeable when it was created for the people by the people and its the people that can change it because its the people that OWN it.
No, its got nothing to do with anybody outside of America but you will have people giving opinions because the perception is that you are all blindingly stupid.
Maybe you need a referendum, state by state to ask the PEOPLE what they want, not tell them what they should have. Each state will then decide what it wants to do irrespective of what the constitution says because in 2013 its no longer that important.
Piers Morgan? Why should we have him back? Who do you think got rid of him to you lot in the first place?

No we have no "right" to give our opinions and the US has no "right" to interfere in Political policy elsewhere in the World.
Everybodys doing it!!! Chill.
PS:Only 30,000 people so far have asked for Morgan to be deported? Thats out of a population of 250,000 million people? Hardly earth shattering is it or do tails really wag dogs in the USA?

Government has killed more people than any disease, natural disaster or gun massacre. In the history of this species, Government is the leading unnatural death cause. Less than 100 people a year die to gun massacres worldwide. In contrast, 200+ people are killed a year in the United States alone by deer. Should we ban deer?

HITLER
STALIN

Less than 100 years ago. But now Government is okay? How long ago was it that the Crown ruled Britain with an Iron Fist? What would Brits do if the Queen ever wanted that power back? Absolutely nothing, because you're disarmed.

I can't say I agree. I think a lot of Brits long for the return of the empire that was handed to the United States. That little "British supremacist" (or so he likes to call himself) will probably be sent back to the UK on charges if he isn't deported for what he did before he came here. 25,000 means nothing but the white house is forced to respond. But our Government doesn't even deport the illegals that walk across the border. So really, it doesn't even matter. The fact is though, the guy is scum. And I do know a little bit about British history being part English myself.

The point is, it is not WE THE PEOPLE that want these wars or to intrude in the affairs of other nations. That would be our corrupt Government that the rest of the world wants us to give our weapons up to (as if it's reasonable and just). Does anyone here remember one of the main starting points in the American revolution? The British are coming to take our guns. Sounds well too familiar with Mr. Piers (The Redcoat) Morgan.
