Why dont armys use remote controls?

Topic started on 25-10-2004 @ 08:10 AM by Paranoid Pain

Why do armys use real pilots for planes and drivers for tanks etc. Would it not be easier to use remote control vehicles. There would be less war casualties and one person could control a number of vehicles.

These are remote controlled airplanes. The predator is capable of being equiped with missles, and the global hawk is for survalence. I think thats how it goes. There are alot more knowledgeable poeple here thatn me on this subject. If Im wrong, they will let us know.

Do a search for Unmanned arial drones. You might be amazed at what pops up.

The other problem that you have is the risk of the remote FU and leaving your hi tech drone in enemy hands.

The first allied tanks in WW1 had that problem. They were supposed to sweep the battlefield, but most broke down or bogged down in the mud.

When the germans used thier tanks for the first time as a counter, the majority of thier tanks were not german designs, but captured allied examples.

Before some one yells self destruct.....imagine what a satchell full of Mills Bombs was supposed to do.
