it supposed to be at 11:11am UT.

Which means for me here on the East Coast, that's 6:11am.
I've got around four hours or so to go.

How does that work given GMT didn't even exist in the time of the Maya??

29 degrees and clear. No doom clouds or death comets. No roving bands of walking dead or planet x's filling the night sky. Imagine that.
Edit: now 28, freezing fog, lightening to the west, and a badass half moon!

I wonder? Is Winter Solstice at 11:12 UTC?

Anchorage, Alaska =[color=3BB9FF] Brrrrrr Coooooooooold. There is nothing at all unusual happening and I'm happy to see it's fairly calm around here.

I started reading some of the posts by folks who are leaning towards this being the start of things positive and I have to admit, that even though I don't believe, I find the idea quite nice. The start of a nicer, calmer and friendlier world
I'm in a great mood, so I suppose that is evidence in their favor.

I like the idea of people using the day as a fresh start but i feel the need to add that 1 person in 7bn feeling a bit chipper doesn't really provide evidence of anything other than the fact that you are in a good mood!

11:11am GMT

Why GMT? Why not the timezone that the Maya predicted it in? And also why 11:11?

For the 47,956th time on ATS, it's because the event that occurs at that time is a CELESTIAL EVENT. If that could take place in central time that would be effin amazing..

Oh drats, I missed it! Wish someone had an email list to remind me of when the world was going to end. Now what, should I pinch myself and make certain that I am alive? Oh well, something good is gonna come out of this. An end of the world party tonight. Woo hoo! Party.... party...

oh and its my birthday today!
woo hoo

oh by the way when i said 11:11GMT - this the end of the world time
but at 11:12GMT is when the winter solstice begins
i think the 11:11 time has been twisted around the solstice time to add more spice!

Nothing has happen though. There were rainbow wave-like clouds in the sky yesterday but it's probably a natural occurrence.
Everyone freaked out a little.

Well you are not off the hook yet. Ever hear of earthquake lights?

8:11am in the North of the UK, just starting to get light, grey skies and chucking it down with rain.

Facebook gone bananas with end of the world updates.

I have no milk or coffee, which means walking to the shop in the pissy wet cold weather.

On an eerie note, i woke up several times this morning, looked at the clock, and it was 2:11am, 3:11am 5:11am and finally 7:11am when I actually got up.

Strange, lmao.

Just to clarify... The 'time' and 'date' are relative to the chronological system we have applied.

The actual 'event' is the winter solstice which, this year, happens to occur at 11:12am UT today (06:12 for us on the east) coast. Daylight Savings, Leap Year, etc are all moot. The Mayan's prophecy is pointed at the Solstice.

Now, my observations for today: I did notice that several of our local radio stations were very staticky(sp) this (thursday) morning, which was well prior to the storm which is now battering my area. Could be sunspots (which are currently happening, and factual), could be from the coming storm (which to me seems odd, as the storms approach was opposite the direction of my proximity to the local radio stations).

The breaking news items on my TV just now are that a British arms manufacturer has agreed a deal with Oman, and insurance premiums for women are going to go up.
