Please don't turn this thread into a screaming match. This video is so puzzling that I am beginning to realize that there's a problem with the story. Am I the only one?

Mod Note -- Starting a new thread?

It's a 15 minute vid.

Care to elaborate, pinpoint, offer an opinion?

These threads of 'look at the vid' AND THEN 'what say you ATS?" are getting to be ridiculous.

What is YOUR opinion? Thoughts?

Peace

you should elaborate and give us your view as to what you think is wrong.
also since you linked a video could you give times when things are wrong or what you notice as out of place.

i see you had the same thought as me jude.

I see an exhausted medical examiner who has had a lifetime of dealing with horrific death scenarios giving only his second press conference facing a bank of cameras, knowing it's going to be shown all over the world.

The errant smile now and then is typical of people under a lot of stress, the emotional centers in the brain for deep grief and humor are actually pretty close together; people sometimes break into fits of laughter at a funeral for this reason. It's just an over-age of emotion.

What else in the video do you have a problem with? The reporters are just being idiot reporters asking any kind of questions they can think of regardless of how heartless it is to the families.

I'm not talking about the smiles, but the answers he was giving. he didnt know how many girls and boys. He said they gave parents pictures of their kids faces. He said most gun shot wounds were from a rifle, but he doesn't know the caliber.

Watch the video and if nothing seems odd, than I need a vacation. Look at the cops when he answered the rifle question.

I will post everything i think is odd when i get to a computer because im a cell phone at the moment. If it's too long for you to watch check back in a few hours.

I believe he was only answering questions pertaining to medical questions, not forensic.
And due to the sensitive nature, he seemed to be cautious as to how elaborate he was on some of the more gruesome details.
He had also mentioned the fact that there were numerous people working the crime scene [children] which consisted of 2 class rooms [excluding the adults]. Their main objective was getting the children's bodies cleared so the parents could start making funeral arrangements for them.

The caliber of the bullets, how many casings were found etc., he left those questions to be answered by the police investigators.

It'll probably be a few more weeks before the final investigative report gets finished and released.
They are still waiting on toxicology reports on the shooter, which will be about another week or so.

But no, I didn't see any thing weird about the interview.
Just extremely stressed out people.
How any body could endure such a horrific task is beyond me.

Don't count on him doing it. This whole thing has gotten out of hand here on ATS lately.

It's kind of ridiculous.

getting sick of these "threads" where members post a ytube vid and give no explanation or opinion on said vid

yes it's a pretty silly thing to get annoyed about but i see many members here who put lots of time and effort into creating threads that are informative and interesting and many of them get lost or hidden under the mass of predictions and doom porn

my point is this..... if you don't want to put in the effort to make the thread properly don't do it at all....i will check back later to see if the op has been updated with actual information on the vid in question

p.s i am only commenting to highlight the issue that is becoming all too common on ats

I don't see anything odd. He's making a statement about what he knows for sure so far. He is not doing each of the examinations personally and probably hasn't seen reports from everyone involved.

Funny how they found 4 HANDGUNS in the school, Video shows them pulling out the ASSAULT RIFLE out of the trunk of the killers car... yet the ME says all victims where shot with the LONG RIFLE and not the 4 HANDGUNS found inside the school..

This has been covered already in another thread. The weapon in the trunk was a shotgun, not a rifle.

I'm a master at identifying weapons (often to the annoyance of anyone I watch a movie with)...so trust me, that's a shotgun.

There were multiple medical examiners. This man may not have know the totals. He has been very busy.

The medical examer is flippant, and talks like these Children are just more gunshot wound victims he sees every day. He is sarcastic in the details, saying things like "I've seen these type of injuries so often I know what I am looking at, but If I tell you, I'll get in some sort of trouble"

He also stumbled a bit on some details.

Really nothing he said, cleared anything up. Typical.

Okay, to those of you who actually answered my question.... I thank you!

To those who took the time to complain... If the video is too long for you maybe you should move on to another thread. I know that some members here put in a lot of effort into their threads and that is greatly appreciated. But like you get annoyed by threads with a video and a question asking what people think about it (like what I did), It's just as much annoying reading replies complaining that there's no transcript in the OP. My opinion is stated in the title of this thread "there is something very wrong with the medical examiner." It is up to you whether you watch the video or not and if you do decide to watch it like some people did and found nothing odd about it, you can ask me clarify what am I talking about. But I also know the board rules on this issue and I apologize for not specifying what I think is wrong in the video.

Okay.. This is what seemed strange to me.

The statement about the rifle being the primary weapon was puzzling to me since I thought that it was found in the trunk of his car. (as the news reporter also did). Somebody replied that it was actually a shotgun and has been covered already in another thread. I haven't seen that thread yet.

He didn't know the caliber were these bullets. That's something that is confirmed by the ME as far as I know.

The fact that they showed the families photos of their babies is weird. The families are usually allowed to be with their loved ones especially children. Unless they didn't want to. I don't know just seems strange.

It's strange that he didn't know if the gunman killed himself with the rifle, but he did say that he didn't do the gunman yet. Just seems strange that they left him for last.

He didn't know how many were girls and how many were boys. Also odd that he didn't think that they would ask that question.

And when he was asked how many bullet casings were found total and the type of wounds, he answered with this...

"This type of weapon is aah, the bullets are designed in such a fashion that the energy is deposited in the tissue so the bullet stays in."

What does that mean?

well i think what the MD meant by this is that the shots fired did not cause a double penetration
as in each bullet stayed inside of the body as a hollow point type of ammo would.
so if one kid was standing in front of another and was shot 3 times the kid behind would not of been
shot by the bullets passing through the body of the poor child.

This is what certain types of ammo are designed to do,cause as much internal damage to soft tissue.
I do not know what type of ammo was used but that is what he meant.

hope this clears that horrid part up. and yes he is acting strange but then how do you act in this situation?
he was asked if he had cried yet and he stated "not yet" and he asked for that to be noted so this just shows
that maybe it's just a really strange defence mechanism that he is showing.my best guess.
The guy is human and just trying to do the best he can note this was his 1st time in front of MSM
and he was not used to this and he was taking direction from the police before answering questions.

You probably know a lot more about guns than I do, and now what he said makes some sense.

and yes he is acting strange but then how do you act in this situation?

That's true. But I was referring to what he said not how he acted.

The guy is human and just trying to do the best he can note this was his 1st time in front of MSM and he was not used to this and he was taking direction from the police before answering questions.

He said it was his second press conference in 26 years as the chief medical examiner. Which is also odd especially that he said he worked on thousands of bodies with gun shot wounds. It seems that he should have done more press conferences in murder cases over the years. But that's just my opinion.

Having two kids in school I cant stop thinking about it. And I guess I need to take a break because every time I learn something new it brings up more questions. I can't imagine what the parents are going through. And when he said that parents were given photos and weren't allowed to be with their kids right after it happened... it breaks my heart.

Lack of interest in this thread probably indicates that I am over thinking about it.

Thank you for replying.

TO reply to your observations:
1)Already covered. They took a shotgun out of the trunk. There is no reason to think that the early reports were nothing but bad reporting.

2)If you watch, he actually says he COULD identify caliber, but that it was not his field, so he would leave that to others. Which is the proper thing to do, since he is technically not qualified to make statements on such things.

3)Some of these children were shot 11 times. 11 TIMES. There is no way that they would want the families seeing that kind of a gruesome scene. Do you know what 11 rounds of .223 would do to a child's body? I feel sick just typing about it.

4)They hadn't examined the gunman yet. The kids were the priority. Pretty standard.

5) He didn't do all of the examinations. He only had info on the ones that he, himself, performed.

6) A)he would have absolutely no info on how many casings were found-he is not an investigator on scene; B)The answer he gave was to give the idea of how much damage was caused. A LOT.

I dont see anything odd here. I see a man who is not comfortable on camera. A man who is more comfortable with gruesome death. He is trying to give the information that he is qualified to give, without overstepping, all while being pushed by the reporters for more info.

If you watch, and read him and his body language as well as his words, he is telling you that these kids were literally shredded. He gave more info than he really probably should have.
