That's an interesting twist on the song "I'm Gettin' Nuttin' For Christmas", but I guess I'm missing the point of the post?

Wow!!!! Not sure what is more frightening, the fact that you are proud of this or the fact that this is the mentality of a 9 year old child.........

That was super disturbing. Content and the "ain't not" made me cringe. Why are you posting this?

Good lord why?

You know, I'm so Sandy Hill O'Fied that I ignored the grammar, and I'm a grammar Nazi.

That's pretty wretched for a nine-year-old.

I didn't even know what a paragraph was in the 4th grade.

huh. you must've been real geniuses.

btw, he does not textspeak. he does not own a handheld. he has only recently been given access to a computer (under strict supervision). he is totally sane and wicked smart.

Double negatives, shocking grammar and violence you must be so proud. does he only write about violent fantasies like beating people up with a bat and shooting things or is this just a special one for xmas. i would keep a close eye on this child and of course teach him his own language. bit puzzled as to why you're so proud of this poorly written aggressive cry for help

That's the difference between "education" now and education when I was a kid.

My mother has been a 4th grade teacher for over 20 years. She recently confided in me that children are getting ... well to put it bluntly, dumber each year.

I think we're seeing both ends of the twistie though.

On the one hand, there is that excruciating type of child who exhibits all the symptoms of having everything given to them therefore they don't need no spelling or wordings.. It's obv wut dey meen so shtup !

On the other hand, we see some of the more intelligent children making headway in fields of technology and science, who make the local papers with their achievements.

I think in the past, there were a lot more mid level students than those of either extreme. But with today's combination of high technology and the drive to make this technology as dumbed down as possible so as to appeal to the lowest common denominator (equals sales) we're finding the divide more obvious.

When I was in school, we had the derps, and we had the know it alls. Everyone else was the typical school kid.

Now the derps are on /b/ and reddit and the know it alls are blogging about the derps on their msdn blogs..

Sadly, we have to have the derps to know where the line is drawn I guess..
