The better sources I have found say 11:12..

I don't know though, because I am not measuring it.

The 13th B'ak'tan in this particular Mayan caendar (other's go on longer) does not end at the time of the Solstice. It simply ends on the 21st December in the modern calendar (posssibly) which just coincidently happens to be the same date the solstice occurs.

So I would expect us all to die at exactly 00.00.01 on the 21st Yucatan time. Which is still before I get up in England. So I should have a nice lie in

but the US Naval Observatory has calculated the time of the winter solstice to be at 11:12am. UMT

and I''m pretty sure the mayans meant the same thing... the solstice.. because that's just the most reasonable way to measure calendars.. around solstices and equinoxes.. find two halway points then divide accordingly...

too bad the gregorian and julians arent like that.. well they kiiinda are.

Why should it be GMT and not the timezone that the the Mayan Peninsula is in, which happens to be CST for us.

I've wondered that myself.
But for some reason (probably because of the British Empire) we use GMT as the calibration point.
Posssibly it has some occult druidic significance.. with the leylines in that area.. all the megaliths etc... just speculating..
