Well here we go - who cares about the Mayan Calendar!

Don’t be surprised if your doctor asks you to sit on the floor at your next checkup. A new study says testing a person’s ability to sit down and then rise from the floor could provide useful insight into their overall health and longevity.

Brazilian researchers discovered an interesting link between a person’s ability to sit and rise from the floor and the risk of being 6.5 times more likely to die in the next six years.

There ya go!

Sit.
Stay.
Rise.

???

I’m still on the floor!

Peace to all in 2013

I'm not sitting still for this. Please get the link back. Still not sitting still, and I mean it (taps foot, crosses arms, not sitting still).

I tried this, sit down and get up thing.. clearly I'm not a doctor, but despite some minor creaking and cracking, I was still able to sit and rise pretty normally
Hopefully I'll live another 6 years

Since the link is down can you describe what you read there? As close as you remember anyway. Was there a difference between people who needed help (a chair, etc) to rise and those who could just "do it". Was time a factor in determining health. I was in a sit-in once, if that counts.
