A control for calorie intake was not possible as administering the diet with normal bacteria would cause unsustainable hunger, as the bacteria stops fat stores being mobilised and satiating the body, Mr Zhao said.

The Shanghai team fed a morbidly obese man a special diet designed to inhibit the bacterium linked to obesity and found that he lost 29 per cent of his body weight in 23 weeks. The patient was prevented from doing any exercise during the trial.
The diet of whole grains, traditional Chinese medicines and non-digestible carbohydrates changed the pH in the gut which limited the bacterium’s activity.

What, so eating far more than you need plays no part then?
Come on people, a bit of honesty is necessary regarding this issue. A percentage are fat through no fault of their own. This simply isn't the case in the vast majority of cases though. A little bit of honesty is essential when tackling this topic.
I have fat and thin friends. Friends being the key word - it makes no difference to me either way. You look at the individual, not the size.

For the last decade or more, nobody wants to be held accountable for whats wrong with them. Everything is someone elses or something elses fault.
First it was Genetics that caused fatassatidis, now its a bacteria but nooo it has nothing to do with the 3 hour set ins at the local all you can eat chinese buffet or the 10 big macs a day.

Because, we want to know why this bacteria seems to only be found in people in first world countries.
Why doesnt this bacteria thrive in places where people are lucky to get one or two meals a day?
Ive said the same thing about the "fat gene" theory for many years.

Well it's 100% related to what we ingest in our food.
All the additives and preservatives.
And I'll bet you that Corn Syrup has something to do with it also.
Everybody else uses sugar.
I've been on a diet for the past 3 weeks. I've cut sugar intake to one packet of sugar with my coffee per day.
I'm not eating bread, rice or pasta.
I was down to eating proteins and vegetables for the first two weeks.
I've added yogurt and nuts now.
With no exercise i've lost over 10 lbs with just the dietary change. Of course I'm a bit tired of eating salad all the time. But the benefit is worth it.
I'm betting the fat gene being turned on is due to all the chemicles and hormones being put into our food.
