Here I would like to explain and compare Kabbalah with Christian Science. The particular aspect of Kabbalah I will explain is the three veils of
negative existence. I will also make some allusions to certain concepts of Eastern Philosophy.
First let me quote Aleister Crowley, on the short description of these three veils, which is, in his words, NOT-GOD:
Nothing is
Nothing becomes
Nothing is not
In kabbalistic terminology, these three veils are labeled as such…
1. Ein
2. Ein Sof
3. Ein Sof Or
Which is translated thus:
1. Without…not… implies only negation, or lack of.
2. Limitless, without bounds.
3. Limitless light, light without bounds.
Now, to re-phrase the three in one more way:
Nothing
No change
No lack
Ein, total negation, can be understood by 0, nothingness. It cannot possibly be stated in any way. It is simply the negation of any possible
description. This is alluded to by Crowley in his saying ‘Nothing is.’ This is a major aspect of Christian Science, as well as a major aspect of
Eastern Philosophy. This can be understood through Eastern concepts of Maya, or illusion. Reality is an illusion, not real. This can also be
understood as emptiness, space, ‘the void.’ Christian Science particularly relates this to material reality. This is the first step in making
progress in the system of Christian Science. Understanding material reality, and all that is perceived by the senses, as being an illusion.
Out of 0 comes infinity. Infinity is, here, totally un-defined, which really means un-bounded. Definitions are what create boundaries. This is the
meaning of Ein Sof, which Kabbalists often refer to as being the ultimate understanding of God. Crowley refers to this by saying ‘Nothing
becomes.’ We can say it like this: Nothing that was, or will be, is not now. Nothing that is, was ever not, or will ever not be. This is a major
point in Christian Science. They say: is there any knowledge, or desire, that you can inform the Infinite Mind of, that it does not know? Anything you
could ever feel, think, or desire, is already known by the Infinite Mind. Being infinite, it cannot change, for anything that could be is already
implied in infinity, or else it is not infinite.
Out of this un-defined, ‘meaningless’ infinity, comes infinite potential for meaning. Crowley refers to this by saying 'nothing is not.' Since
there are absolutely no limits to the Limitless, virtually any meaning can be given to it. It cannot possibly be restricted. You can push the
boundaries as far as you want, because there are none. Because of this, there is infinite potential for bliss, pleasure, ecstasy. According to
Kabbalah, as well as Christian Science, this is the true nature of manifested reality. The only reason ‘God’ manifests reality in the first place,
is so that bliss, pleasure, and ecstasy can be felt. Thus that is the nature of all reality. Any perception that differs from that is self-created,
through mis-understanding the nature of reality, and therefore being caught in limited perspectives.
