I am trying to understand the latest round of news. Boehner's Plan B to raise taxes on those making over a million. The plan was instantaneously rejected by Pelosi, Reid, and the White House.

Can someone explain it to me? I thought the GOP was for reduced spending and the DNC was for increased taxation but it seems to be flipped on its head today.

Is the DNC saying that taxes needs to be raised on more people than just millionaires and why are they including billions in pork barrel projects as part of the Hurricane Sandy Relief when we're talking about cutting spending?

Just kidding. I just thought its a fun side-show. They hate you and they hate this country (all of them). They'll raise spending and taxes. I don't think you liberals understand that government spending is generated from the labor of the people. They are spending your labor and then taxing you on it. You are a slave, and they'll treat you nicely until you can't bare the load anymore and then they'll be done with you.

Enjoy your government while you can.

Nope! Conservatives are for reduced spending and tax cuts. The GOP is for whatever is most politically expedient. The GOP is only concerned with remaining in power; it has no firm stance on anything.

The DNC wants taxes raised on everyone. They want wealth redistribution. Some of us have been screaming this from the roof tops (and getting flamed for doing so) for a LONG time.

Enjoy!! We reap what we sow!

The part of the title cut off is that Reid said Boehner should focus on large-scale deficit cuts. Excuse me? Reid (D) is wanting large scale deficit cuts? Is he wanting austerity?

Too funny.

Not everyone. They need 58 million Americans to be in complete servitude. They need someone to buy off for their elections.

They do put on a good show, I have to admit. Its hard to believe sometimes they work for the same group of people and share the same satanic beliefs.

I completely agree. Both parties suck so bad, and if you ask me, both would love to raise taxes. I think America needs to wake up and go Libertarian. FREEDOM!

I'm on board with that.....

If they'd just drop the "legalize it" and all the isolationist BS they might gain some traction. Too much of ANYTHING is bad.....and they're extreme on many subjects.

Wasn't cuts in Boehners first proposal? So if I read it right, the republicans are basically giving the dems what they want, but now the dems don't want it? What further proof do people need that the dems want to shove us off the cliff.

The GOP is trying so hard to save face. They will do anything to make it look like they are strong. Problem is, we really need unity on a solution for the mess WE let them create. Not saying any side is better mind you. Both are still playing politics with our hard earned money. WE let them spend it and give it away for things we probably should be marching in the streets about. (Dems=Losers)+(GOP=Losers)=(WE the people=Losers). Simple math

I hear that mathematically there is no way to really ever pay off the debt. Any truth to that?

We have 220 trillion in unfunded liabilites (s.s., medicaid, medicare) and a 16 trillion dollar deficit. Since we get money lent to us with .46 cents of interest on that money, there is no way to pay it back. This is a model they have put in place to keep us under control of the federal reserve. Before 1913, there wasn't an income tax. The only time they would put a major tax is if war broke out, and people would have to just send them money, it wasn't directly taken out of their checks. We work about 4 to 6 months out of a year just to pay our taxes so they can keep spending money on an overbloated government that has not intention on scaling back. They actually keep increasing spending by about 6% every single year. I fear there is no going back, and you will continually see the debt increase by at least a trillion a year until they have to make some major tax increases and major cuts to the social programs, then you will see unrest.

I don't think they should legalize all drugs, but before the 30's m.j. was legal and there was many good uses for hemp. The paper companies lobbied against it because they could make paper cheaper from hemp. As for being and "Isolationist", it is actually a non-interventionist policy, meaning, we don't want war unless we are under a direct threat from another country. The whole al-qaeda thing is a very good thing for them because they can have a war with no borders, and the people making all of the weapons and funding the war, make bank by funding both sides. The central bank/federal reserve is the major problem in this country. They keep interest rates low, causing the largest tax increase every, Inflation! It hurts everyone equally.

Correct, trillions upon trillions are invented and provided to the US in loans at interest. Paying interest on loaned/invented notes is impossible without using loaned/invented notes.

The money can never be paid back. If it is paid back, it is only done so with additional loans.

What is most telling is that Boehner's Plan B is actually a recycle of a Nancy Pelosi (when she was Speaker) own "Plan A." Ironic, huh?

Why Boehner doesn't force a vote in the House and dump this mess in to the lap of the "no budget for four years Harry Reid Senate" I don't know. None of this smoke and mirrors political brinksmanship means nothing without cutting government spending. And NEITHER party is addressing that.

The dumbed down American voter really does believe that they are entitled to government largesse. It's "free!"

Since when?

Most of the products we buy are made in sweat shops. We just got done murdering 1 million innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of oil and banking interests.

...there wasn't a whole lot about it that was "voluntary".

Well hell, neither party talks much about taxing corporations, now do they?

This is the one advantage to having the same party (pick one, don't really give a damn which because they both are a GD joke) in full power. It's a lot more difficult to play good cop/bad cop with just one cop in the room...

Boehner is grasping right now, but I don't entirely blame him for that. He's up against slightly over half of the American voter base which has received enough in gifts and dowries from the left to be fiercely loyal and support anything the Meal Ticket proposes or endorses. That was demonstrated in the November elections. Boehner is attempting to satisfy enough of the receivers without seriously offending the victims of tax theft who provided those gifts in the first place. It is a fool's game which he simply can't win. To be honest, I'd rather go off the cliff IF that plunge included absolutely no increase to the debt limit and the government allowed the USA to enter full default. Unfortunately, I think the GOP will buckle before the nation defaults, but possibly after all of our taxes have already escalated.

Corporations don't pay taxes, they pass that cost to their consumers.

five minutes with a libertarian telling you how they would fix the economy will reveal....simplistic answers to complex problems, unble to take into account consequences in a detailed, thorough, and deliberative manner of their stated legislative changes.
