In response to the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., the NBC Sports Network has placed an indefinite moratorium on the broadcasting of any gun-related outdoor programming.

With the network’s decision, “3-Gun Nation” will no longer be airing on NBC Sports Network, effective immediately.

Watching sportsmen shoot at targets is too dangerous for the public I guess.

Instead here are some NBC shows where you can watch people be shot at and killed:

Law and Order
Revolution
Datelines various murder porn specials
Grimm
Hannibal

Shooting holes in paper = bad
Shooting, slashing, beating, attacking human beings = good

It was also the one show that had proper firearm rules in it. If you don't follow the rules in three gun you loose, and might get blacklisted. Big deal for some of the people that make a side living off of it.

If broadcasters in america want to do something to actually help they should start in their own backyard and remove all the violence related shows on their networks. I hardly ever watch T.V anymore because there isn`t anything interesting on. It seems like most of the primetime shows are shows about cops, lawyers etc and all of the plots are based on violent crimes.
it`s not just T.V. shows either it seems like most of the movies and video games are based on violence and destruction also.

And that's really all you need to know about which side the media is on in the gun control debate. A perfect example of hypocrisy. This is one of the most glaring examples of the one-sidedness of the media in the gun control debate.

I personally feel that the Government needs to shut down the internet and all broadcasts with the exception of Government approved re-education material.

The Government needs to restrict people from leaving their homes without proper approval. When they do leave they are only allowed to travel with a Government mandated handlers.

The Government needs to restrict the distance we are allowed to come into contact with other human to a minimum of 15ft.

All worldly possessions need to be confiscated by the Government, this includes all material items as well as money squirreled away in bank accounts. It is not fair that one person as something that another doesn't have. Everything can then be distributed by the Government to each individual their allotment of material possessions. All things must be equal.

Only with our Beloved Government looking after us in such a manner can we as a human species truly exist in harmony and peace with one another.

Examples of safe responsible handling arent good for children to see.

They need more imagery of aiming guns at people.

Didn't expect anything less from NBC.

After "Sportscaster" Bob Costas rant, on Prime Time Football, I knew exactly where NBC stood.

You know, as much as some may laugh this off as a simple minded reponse..I think you may have a very important point the public has to look at and consider.

Europeans, correct me if I'm wrong....but unlike America where sex of almost any kind is taboo to an extreme on prime TV (what a game they play of playing the edges on that one too) yet...violence of any extreme nature is pretty much okay. I haven't seen an accurate depiction of a gunshot to the head on prime TV yet...but it'll come, I'm sure.

In Europe though? Isn't it just the opposite? Sex is more a natural part of life and not something to get all giggly and taboo about while extreme violence isn't on TV, on some prime channel, almost 24/7.

Perhaps we need to rethink things here about just how many thousands upon thousands upon THOUSANDS of simulated rapes, murders and torture sessions our kids see by the time the even hit their teen years? I wonder if that really IS a big part of what's changed? I know the 70's and 80's didn't see anything like this endless, nonstop all hours FLOOD of murder and mayhem from cartoons to evening television during "family" time.

So they are using this to try to boost their ratings
I suppose that's acceptable. Maybe they need to look at all the "reality" shows where people are killing others. Take for instance "Revolution" or "Lost" or many other shows that distort the viewers perception. I feel that we should be looking at regulating TV a little more. Allowing access to severely radical internet sites is not good either. At least this site has sensible Mods to monitor the T&C on the sites. I see some sites out there where the Mods are as bad as the posters. Discussing possible conspiracies is not the same as promoting violent behavior.

Talk about an empty gesture..

Too right.

Good will and caring only go so far. About $ far.

If NBC cared so much they'd drop all the violent programming and become NBC Family.

I'm speaking purely for the UK here, and I don't watch much TV so I'm not the best example but I think we're getting the best of both worlds now. Yay.

Predictive programming violence is becoming more the norm, and I'm seeing more of it on what little I do watch.

Sex on the television, since I'm English, is of course both terrifying and hilarious. And not in short supply.

First of all they are not trying to take your rights away. They are taking your rights away. By in large the general population is dumb enough to be begging the Government to take their rights away. Just read the posts on this site alone, turn your television on. Open your eyes...

As a Brit who does support more gun legislation, that still seems like a dick move from NBC.

Surely responsible gun owners like sportsmen should be held up as good role models for gun users.

I love American TV, and it is indeed very violent, but I'm a firm believer in ordinary people being smart enough to distinguish fiction from reality. Same with games and everything else.

Leave sport out of it!

Let's just see how long it lasts. IMO, other channels will pick up the canceled shows and prosper while NBC continues to flounder.

It's already underway in California, but then idiots willingly gave their oppressors a super majority in this state. They are currently preparing to use synchronized technology to track your DMV, IRS, medical, etc. Then of course there are the smart meters in your homes. You will not be able to have any unexplained cash and the government will be able to track your whereabouts and shut down your power and vehicle at will.
