In a capitalist economy the only people who are free are capitalists. The rest of us are subservient to them.

The government/state is set up to mainly support capitalist interests.

BTW nice rant, I completely agree.

Which rant?

Oh and I agree, Look I'm a normal ish bloke and I do not claim to be a intelligent bloke I just say how I feel and think, I can be wrong (and have been many times) and I can be stubborn and sometimes foolish but sometimes I admit it sometimes I don't.
We are all different but sometimes I know when I'm right when If I see someone get hurt, I care I want to help that person be it a guy in north Korea or a bloke in the US cos I'm human.
I think that is why tensions run high because sometimes people care more for other things than whats really inportant and that is each other.
Anyhow forgot my original point now cos I'm drunk.
Love to all and goodnight Botmonkey

What is also somewhat ignorant is you view on our laws, particularly when it comes to this odd believe that we live in a “Orwellian state”. There are some in the UK who will complain about “big brother” but for the most part the everyday Brit will never complain about it, we don’t mind it. I for one quite like the fact that there is CCTV at the ATM machine to deter a potential mugger or there is CCTV on a bus to catch out the idiots abusing the other passengers. There are limits, many parts of a true surveillance society I do not agree with but the point is this, the UK is not a “Orwellian state” we are free.

Only a child needs the government to hold their hand and protect them. You claim not to have an Orwellian police state, and then go on to praise that same police state.

Enjoy your servitude.

You are a subject. I guess you missed the Constitutional Monarchy thing. By the way, the way the Muslims keep going, you are going to be a Muslim subject soon.

They are taking over your country; you guys even allow Sharia courts.

So lets get one thing straight. You are a subject, and you will continue to be a subject either under Muslim control or British Monarchy control.

I continue to be dumbfounded by the complete misunderstanding of the situation in UK by the USA.

God Bless the Queen, Sharia Law, Orwellian state? I really don't know where to begin.

It's The USA I worry about with the constant removal of civil liberties and what I believe can only be the build up to a civil war in the next 10 to 15 years.

Given the American view of Great Britain I can only assume that I am as far off track as you guys seem to be and stop worrying about you.

As much as some of the comments in here raise the temperature of my blood a degree or 2, I must say I am not proud to be British these days, or for quite sometime.

Britain has NOTHING to be proud of anymore, as someone said, this country is a smouldering ember of a once great, strong, awe-inspiring grand oak.

We were, not really so long ago, an industrial might matched by none, an empire larger than the world had ever seen, had innovation and drive that sparked and contributed to some of the most important and fundamental inventions of the 19th and 20th century.

Now?

We are a country with a government that's too large to sustain, rotten with corruption and "do gooders", crippled by our own ridiculous statutes, and priorities in so many of the wrong orders its ridiculous. We give priority to persons seeking asylum, immigrants and yet let our loyal old starve and die of cold in the winter.

A country whose benefits system REWARDS unemployment, alcoholism and laziness, while the ever burdened tax payer is squeezed out of every last penny to pay for the above, until the very companies they work hard for, are also crushed into submission by taxes and ever increasing legislation and operating costs.

Unemployed and no work, said taxpayer turns to the government that they have so long supported and paid into, only to be told that the pittance of savings they have spent years prudently putting aside, must all be used before any assistance can be given. Having used all available means of savings, taxpayer is then given a pittance per week and told that unfortunately the government doesn't provide relief for mortgage payments on that property that you spent so many years saving the deposit for, despite lazy Joe before him getting his rent paid on a property he doesn't even own, in full for the next month. Poor taxpayer ultimately has his home repossessed and has to wait in squalor while lazy Joe, immigrants and asylum seekers are pushed up the housing waiting list.

Before too long, taxpayer has lost all will to lead a decent life, doesn't bother to find a job, turns to alcohol and gets funded for all of the above while another hard working taxpayer takes his place on the road to demise.......British??? More like B*ll*x

Then please explain to us simple Americans why you continue to support a monarchy if they have no power over you? Just for the fun of it? Because they are cute like puppies. (Eeeeww).? Please explain?
