Fake shows? Let's see...

Pawn Stars. Mostly faked. If you ever go into the store, you will never see any of the show's cast members workign behind the counter. In fact, they have a velvet rope outside the door so when they are filming, they can keep the tourists out. To be on the show, you have to email them about the item ahead of time so they can look it up first. Thanks to Google, they are some very knowledgable guys. And it turns out that some of the items brought in are staged and aren't actually something the owner is trying to sell.

House Hunters. The only way to be on that show was to have already closed on a house prior to filming. So when the couple on the show is being taken to see 3 or 4 different houses, they already owned one of them. Which is why they always made up lame excuses about things they didn't like in great homes.

Gold Rush. Partially faked. More of a "guided" reality show. You can't fake finding gold. But there is no way the Hoffman crew would have possibly been able to continue operating AND buying expensive new equipment without some outside assistance.

American Digger. 100% Fake. The entire show is "re-enactments".

American Pickers. Partially faked. They did a show out here a few months ago. The film crew moves the van from location to location. The show's 2 hosts fly in whenever they go anywhere. They never actually go "scouting". They only go to houses they have already obtained permission from first. And a few of the items they find may be planted. But no confirmation on that.

Hardcore Pawn. 100% Fake. Everything on the show is staged.

Yep, everything on TV is fake.

To further shatter illusions: game shows are filmed in blocks. The hosts and contestants will change clothes to make it seems like it's another day when you see the next episode.

So are shows such as Rattlesnake Republic.

People who watch "reality" shows and think they are real are obtuse.

ps: I personally loathe the Repo shows. I hope they all diaf.
