The NSW Office of Fair Trading doorstopped the home of Australian Vaccination Network president Meryl Dorey yesterday with a letter of action, labelling the network's name misleading and a detriment to the community.
NSW Fair Trading Minister Anthony Roberts fired a broadside at the AVN, saying the information it provided was a public safety issue of "life and death".

There is no doubt that Dorey’s organization has nothing to do with helping people understand the need for vaccines, it is purely an organization to scare parents from obtaining vaccines through lies, misinformation, and anti-scientific nonsense. If you really work at it, you might find a mercury-containing does of DTaP or influenza vaccine. I don't know if they're approved for or used with children, but I guess it's possible. And, while it is not routine, I imagine some kids may get a mercury-containing meningococcal vaccine. Again, you'd have to work at it, since most contain no mercury whatsoever, all are available in mercury-free form, and many that do contain mercury have only the barest of trace amounts (nanograms instead of micrograms).

The point is moot, since no real harm has been scientifically attributed to vaccine thimerosal, even in the relatively larger doses present in a few vaccines. An infant will clear it in a month, and even repeated doses are naturally flushed out of the body. The dose makes the poison, a few micrograms of thimerosal isn't poisonous, and it's excreted so quickly it will never become poisonous.

Measles death rates before vaccines: 500 dead in the USA alone on average per year from the 1950's through early 1960's. Actual deaths from measles in the USA over the 13 years to 2004 - 0.3% - 3 per 1000 people who develop measles. Expected deaths in undeveloped countries - as many as 28% of people who develop measles.

Many of the sad deaths of infants listed are obviously NOT vaccine related - the are pre-birth, or premature births for example.

It's really just the tip of the iceberg.

The basic problem with vaccines are that they have an unacceptably high side effect rate. Suppose the morbidity rate was 1/1000 for a given vaccine for disease X, that kills or maims its victims 50% of the time. Why then we should give everyone the disease X vaccine right away right? Wrong!

If we gave this vaccine to 100 million children in India, say mandated by the government, then you would have 100 thousand nasty side effects. But what is the infection rate of disease X? What if it typically only infects 20 thousand people once proper precautions are enforced? In that case you only get 10,000 people affected. The disease turns out to be better. There are several examples of this sort of thing with vaccines, wherein widespread adoption is horrifically worse than the disease itself.
