Aside from the right to bear arms, how much more personal freedom is there in US v UK?

I am asking the question in a very genuine manner.....
I have read countless posts that state or imply that the British live under a "dictatorship" while America is the "land of the free"

I am from the UK so obviously I understand that the American people have the right to bear arm's and we do not...but that aside what are the differences and more importantly what can we learn from each other?...as I refuse to believe that ANY country get's everything right, especially at this point in history!

I am NOT trying to make this a UK v US hate thread!!
I am hoping there are others who like myself want to put all emotional crap to one side and actually may become a little more educated as a result.

Personally I think the UK isn't far behind when it comes to surveilling the general populace. Whether it's by text messages, phone calls, CCTV or the internet.

Only thing we can possibly learn from each other is how to avoid corruption at the highest echelons.

I think both countries are messed up when it comes to personal liberties....

depends who you are. try being an outspoken socialist or communist in america and they'd probably put you on a watch list

there are different degrees of freedom in different areas for different things. The countries are more or less quite free.

This is the thing....being British I don't feel like I come under any more oppression than most other countries....significantly less in some cases;
But there seems to be a very high proportion of American's who believe we do and believe we should be pitied....I'm just trying to understand why that is?

The English Bill Of Rights 1689 and i quote " no royal interference in the freedom of the people to have arms for their own defence as suitable to their class and as allowed by law "
This is basically what the US second amendment was based on:-

en.wikipedia.org...

As Britain became more civilised over time we gave up this right. And rightly so too.
The United States has some catching up to do.
