Way to cherry pick your data. How about comparing all countries instead of just the 7 that help you make your point?
edit on 14-12-2012 by SilentKoala because: (no reason given)

Its not exactly cherry picking, I would say these countries are alot closer to America in terms of culture than the countries that have higher rates or totals than you.

Brazil, Mexico and Columbia are the only countries with higher gun deaths than the good ol US of A

You have 56.1 million people the US has 311.5 million; we have guns you don't. Have a sip of tea and send more money to the royal scum!

And those numbers means what exactly?

Your racism and attempts to offensively stereotype won't affect me, I don't live in England. I live in another country with a very low homicide rate and no guns.

Just to point out they do not cost us anything, in fact they bring in more tax money than we spend on them. They make a profit.
They are our slaves, they look after all our national treasures including the palaces the jewels etc because all that belongs to the people.

I live in Mass. which is just North of Connecticut and all of us are saddened by this tragedy.

Still this horrifying act is the work of an individual.

The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are perhaps the greatest and most important document ever written by Man even surpassing the Bible, Hindu Bible, Koran...etc.

It is a self correcting document and template that guarantees Freedom, Democracy and a Persons Right to achieve Happiness. There simply is nothing that compares to it anywhere in the World.

The Right to Bear Arms is a Cornerstone of the Constitution as it was decided over 200 years ago that in order for the United States of America to be able to protect itself from those who would subvert this Constitution the Constitution itself would state that...It is not just a right but a DUTY for every American Citizen to overthrow any Government of the United States that does not follow the Constitution.

I have been all over the World and there is no greater taste of Freedom anywhere that is greater than the one I taste every time I come back home to the U.S.A. And while this last horror is unfortunate...it cannot ever allow us to make the mistake of overreacting to the point of shredding our Freedoms due to the actions of a few or one.

I have no Guns, but I have friends who Deer Hunt. We may need the ability to protect ourselves! It is a horrible Tragedy that has happened in my country. I still feel that we should have the right to protect our homes and family. Thank God for Deer Meat! Food Prices are so high here that no-one can afford to buy groceries.

Something is driving people crazy. Even Terrorist don't attack like that! The attack at the school had to be personal and something about the 20 year olds mother.

My guess, there will be major changes in School Security. Taking away guns is not the solution.

I am not trying to offend you! it is just you cherry pick numbers at a ratio of 3 to 1 and try to make a point. You must be very young and and look at the world through rose colored glasses. If I knew that no one else would ever be harmed by a weapon (My wife and daughter) I would get rid of them tomorrow. But, that is not reality and if someone ever tries to come here and harm them it will be their last act on this earth. Wake up this is not pretend time or make a wish; the world is cruel and if you don't or won't protct you own you are a POS. Not every gun ower is a nut; don't paint the US with one stroke of the brush.

Maybe because that's because you are blissfully ignorant in your socialist country, fed propaganda by your state-run media telling you that everything is all right, that the princess might be having twins! Yay for the princess!

Meanwhile in MY country, people are trying to take away my God-given, Constitution-confirming rights while you cheer them on like a smitten fanboy.

Gun deaths per 100,000 worldwide

America isn't even in the top ten.

2.98 per 100,000 actual homicides with a firearm. Far more suicides are committed with firearms than murders. Those 5.75 suicides per 100,000 with firearms would have happened whether they had a firearm or not. So you can effectively take those out of the statistics when looking at actual gun crime. 2.98 per 100,000 people. Not even 1 percent. Stop acting like america is full of monsters. Or that, while tragic, gun crime is even that big of a problem. More people drown every year then by homicide committed with a firearm. Should we ban water?

Now, it's true we have vastly more firearm related deaths a year than the UK. It's also true that we have five and a half times their population. How many knife deaths do they have a year? Perhaps they should ban knives.

My heart goes out to those affected by this terrible tragedy. This "debate" on guns is pointless.

Iam allowed an opinion just the same as you pal, Just because we disagree on things it doesn't mean you can name call.
Iam proud to be a socialist...If jesus came back he would be one too.
I'm not cheering anyone on, I disagree with handguns, in fact I disagree with all things made for one thing...to kill.

There's only two options here. Either you're a troll or are simply ignorant. As you are Brittish I'll assume you're ignorant of American culture. So...

First of all check your own history books. One major reason the United States of America exists is because the Brittish wanted to take the Colonists' guns. We used our guns, defeated the greatest military power in the world and thus continued a nescessary gun culture.

There are many other reasons for guns but I will point out one more.

Maybe we should have changed our culture 150 years ago (maybe not). But we didn't so here we are in 2012 with guns galore. This is not the U.K. your gun ban "works" because there was not mass gun ownership before the ban. Here it would cause turmoil because it would be unConstitutional, and at best it would leave citizens helpless against a huge ammount of unregistered guns in the hands of criminals. Not to mention criminal elements in goverment.

It is a proven fact that communities with a high percentage of Heavily Armed Citizens have very small Crime Rates. I live in such a community. Crime is almost non-existent.

The Local Police hold a Father/Son/Daughter Gun Safety Course every year for several weeks. A Child must be 14 and this course teaches everything there is to know about Handguns, Rifles, Shotguns, Muskets, Compound Bows, Recurve Bows and the Ammo or Arrow Heads or Points that are available.

I myself went though this course as a 14 year old and it taught me to respect any weapon as well as know how to hold them and safely fire rounds and arrows. It taught me responsibility as well as respect for others and respect for dangerous weapons.

In the History of this course which has run for over 5 decades there has never been a child in my town that has accidentally been shot or accidentally shot themselves.

I am so very Sadden by to days senseless killings by a troubled young man, Yes it would appear from the news reports he had some sort of mental problems.

But let's remember, The Americans are not the only country that has these senseless killings of the innocent.
Do any of you really Think Tough Gun Laws Keep Europeans Safe? Think Again... it was June of 2010,

Derrick Bird shot and killed 12 people and wounded 11 others. A headline in The Times of London read: "Toughest laws in the world could not stop Cumbria tragedy.

The fourth worst shooting was in the U.S. -- Columbine High School in 1999, leaving 13 killed.
