It seems that all of a sudden people all across the country are now interested in fighting for their second amendment right to bear arms, now that they are so close to losing them

The messed up part is that all of this would have been a non issue if they would have followed the direction of their forefathers, if they had of used those rights to stomp out the Tyrannical oppressors every time they got too big for their britches.

So now after Brotha O takes all your precious guns away and replaces them with armed guards at your doorsteps, how the hell you gonna fight Tyranny?...you gonna vote them away or mass a peaceful demonstration them away?

Whatcha gonna do...call ghost busters

Look how the people of Egypt got their new leader to change his ideas last week. Peaceful protest.
Black Americans did it with a million people marching.

The same way the French resistance got weapons in WW2. First club a soldier from behind. Take his knife and go stab another one after giving the club to someone else. Then use the knife on a soldier and take his gun. Give the knife to someone else. Then shoot the soldiers of a tank. Take the tank and give away the guns. You are now fighting tyranny. That is if you know how to use the club, the knife, the gun, and the tank.

Egpyt where the were raping people in the streets, and rape gangs are running wild?

Libya where guns got rid of Gadaffi and dragged his body through the streets.

And Egpyts new leader is the same as the old one with his power grabs.

Don't you know? There won't be tyranny when everyone gives up their guns. Nope, we'll all sit around and sing kumbaya all day and no bad guys will want to be bad anymore. And if you don't sing loud enough, we'll have you killed for trying to become a tyrant.
--sarcasm btw

Guns aren't going to save you from the government. All the Feds would have to do is do major road blockades, starve you death, or drone attack you.

They passed the anti protesting bill, and the NDAA.

We can't even legally protest anymore, and if we do we can be locked up without trial.

We are past the point of no return in all honesty. They have won.

And when it comes down to guns. Even if we keep our guns, we the people don't have F-35s, tanks, and the like.

The only reason the revolution worked in the 1st place is because it was cannons, muskets, and men VS cannons, muskets, and men.

Time to bite the pillow.

Realistically, what is the bigger threat?

- Fighting off a tyrannical government
- Worrying about lunatics who shouldn't have guns going on murderous rampages?

Option #2. We aren't living in Iraq, or Iran, or Syria, etc. I'm sure guns are readily available in those tyrannical countries - and they aren't helping the populace.

Well...how have you been fighting tyranny WITH guns? I know the argument is that it's the final line of defense between an out of control government "coming to get you" and whatnot...but given that all of those NRA members did absolutely nothing when:

1. JFK was murdered by our intelligence apparatus in broad daylight in 1963.
2. Bob McNamara admitted that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a lie.
3. Donald Rumsfeld announced that he "misplaced" 2.3 TRILLION DOLLARS on 9-10-01 (pay close attention to that date).
4. Colin Powell lied to every man, woman, and child in the country on national television so that we could get into a nine year, trillion dollar war under false pretenses.
5. The Supreme Court legalized bribing our elected officials.
6. The Reagan Administration just "couldn't remember" anything at all about the Iran-Contra Affair.
7. Police all across America have been deploying chemical weapons specifically forbidden by the 1993 CWC treaty on Occupy Protestors...including on one occasion an 84-yr old lady in Seattle who was a "threat".
8. Countless subversions of the Bill of Rights...starting with the no-knock raids underneath Reagan's "war on drugs".
9. Innocent Americans were burned alive in Waco, TX solely for the "crime" of having odd religious convictions.
10. Robot drones being deployed overhead, virtually guaranteeing a dystopian future of oppression for all Americans as this program expands.
11. (Insert the next 10,000 instances of choice here ).

I'm a big supporter and defender of the 2nd Amendment...but in reality for all the talk, hype, rhetoric, and dogma, about how important it is that "they" don't come and "take our guns"...it really is totally irrelevant. For the last 50 years Americans (and arguably A LOT longer than that) all those "freedom-loving" gun lovers have done absolutely ZERO to ensure the liberty of everyday Americans.

The reality is that the "NRA voter" does little else but shine up their guns, do a little target shooting, and talk about how tough they think they are.

Sorry dude...I'm with you on supporting the 2nd Amendment....but if you think it "protects you" from a tyrannical government you clearly haven't been paying much attention.

Firstly, Obama never stated anything about taking away guns from everybody. People talk about political correctness everyday on this forum, however when it comes to any discussion on guns, gun advocates get all uptight and sensitive.

Secondly, just because people believe in strengthening laws that will restrict guns does not mean they believe in banning guns outright. I believe that if you are a responsible American citizen with a good history and the experience to handle such a weapon, you should be able to get a permit and own one. I don't believe that we should just allow anybody to own a gun, just like I don't believe that we should just give a drivers licence to anybody.

Actually...I'm going to take a little different path.

I'm going to say it's Option #1...and then I'm also going to say that owning a gun is about the least possible effective means of combating that threat. You might as well throw rocks at a tank.

The REAL weapon which we need to "be free" is and always will be books, information, and the ability to stand with our FELLOW CITIZENS against the ruling class in a peaceful manner.

But we do we do? We buy guns instead of books and listen to the corporate-controlled news which tells you that somehow you have more in common with a bunch of multi-generational silver-spooners running the govt. and the corporations than you do with the other people in your own neighborhood because their religious views, whether or not their occupation has a trade union, and what they do with their genitals.

Gun ownership as a means to being "free" is a joke in the modern world.

Guns didn't appear to help Confederate citizens resist Federal force when it came to the civil war. They were overpowered.

Most high powered rifles can take down the smaller drones.

The only drones you will have problems with, are the ones the size of large passenger jets.

I'd go option #1. The odds of me being harmed by a gun rampage are practically nil. The odds of a tyrannical government are way way higher, all you have to do is look at things like the Patriot Act, NDAA etc., and see that it's already on the way.

We're NOT.

Blows the agenda completely out of the water.

All of the events that we THINK are random are anything BUT...

One group and one group alone is responsible for virtually all wars and bloodshed on the face of this planet. This evil cabal is few in numbers but, like a deadly octopus, its tentacles reach out to grip and strangle untold multitudes of innocent victims.
