I would like to know what movies you think are the best to watch the night before the event?

me personally i will be stuck at work and have absolutely nothing to do... with no tv access and filtered internet. my
only options are to watch dvd's on the lappy?

so im curious if you were in my position how would you fill that time watching movies?

for me my partial list in no particular order.

looking for a friend for the end of the world.

sunshine.

heavymetal.

2010 the year we make contact.

World War III tv series from 1982

By dawns early light

fail safe

Colossus: The Forbin Project

this list is by no means complete.

please give me some ideas to help complete my theater of doom for the last night before the apocalypse.

thanks for your time..

Post what you ended up watching on the 22nd, after you've woken up the next day.
There is definitely going to be a next day.

Whats with the silly responses/suggestions?
I would like tips for good doomsday/2012 movies too, instead there are a bunch of jackasses trying to be clever.

My tips are:
Independence Day
and Battle Los Angeles

Any fantasy movie would be appropriate on the eve of an imaginary apocalypse. I'm going to a party, myself.

Well, if i thought the world was about to end, i wouldnt want to watch a disaster movie, i think id stick on The Godfather 1 and 2, but not the third, because it was pants, a true disaster.

A good doomsday movie if you have six hours to kill is The Stand by Stephen King.

www.imdb.com...

Great movie, even though Molly Ringwald is in it

If I thought the world was going to end the next day, I think I'd be doing a lot more than just sitting and watching movies the night before. Lots of pleasures in life to sample one last time.

But if I was stuck and had to watch movies I guess my picks would be stuff that would make me laugh a lot (let's face it, you won't be laughing too much the next day, right?).

So for me it would be re-watching as much of the Red Dwarf TV show as possible.

I think it would be very unwise to spend the day before the 21st watching Hollywood propaganda and mind manipulation.

Be it the unlikely scenario that doomsday is upon us, the scenario of spiritual upgrade (which I sincerely long for) or the more likely scenario that nothing will happen - it is not beneficial to fill your mind with the negativity and (subconscious) messages that are typically put out in these flicks in approach of the big day.

The 'coming of the new age' is already heavily loaded emotionally and we need positive, balanced thoughts in the worst case scenario but also in the best case scenario. Albeit just to avoid the day becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy; full of chaos, looting and violence just because we expect it. The world is created by our thoughts.

Be postiive and full of love. Even if you are the most down to earth type of person that does not even consider the chance of something happening, I think it is still an appropiate time to spend with your loved ones instead of watching some shallow Hollywood production.

For some unexplained reason, when i saw the glowing hand,
i suddenly got a terrible urge to murder the filmmakers.

Two obvious candidates are the movies "2012" and "Doomsday 2012 - The Prophecy is true".

But I personally would stick to something that would make me laugh so hard I snorted my coffee through my nose because I would want the practice for the 22nd when I could laugh at all the preppers and doomsayers.

first are you talking about the heavy metal movie having to do with the loc nar, i love that movie.
next might i suggest

on the beach the original staring gregory peck
on the beach remake for tv staring armand assante both are excellent
a boy and his dog
the day after abc made for tv movie staring jason robards
the road
the book of eli
the arrival
the arrival 2 not the best but continues the story of the first one
12 monkeys
28 days later
28weeks later
children of men this movie to me is one of the greatest
the happening
knowing
all of the the prophecy movies including legion.
and back before sci-fi became a network and before they changed their name, it was a showtime series that came on fridays that's where sg1 started they had a bunch of good shows on i liked jeremiah was a good one but when it went to show time it kinda went down hill.
two more and i'll quit,
cbs's jericho first show that i know of in history that fans got the network to keep going so that maybe it would build a bigger fan base.
and abc's flash forward this show i think had great potential to be one of the best shows ever.
man there are show many over the years, i could go on and on
