Forgive me for thinking too much, but I just posted another thread related to Dec. 21 as a significant “anniversary” date for the Mayan culture.
It made me think about the next week and a half up to that day, and what kind of paranoia we may see. I don’t really expect anything on the level of
mass hysteria unless there is something almost undeniably world-ending unveiled, but the potential for a Heaven’s Gate type events is ripe. Knowing
there is nothing I could ever do to prevent the end of the world if it was coming, what I fear most is the reaction/action of others who create an
even more dangerous situation. One thing I think I may be able to state about Dec. 21 is that I don’t expect to be out in public that evening, just
in case there are life threatening incidences that I could have saved my family from by the simple act of staying home one Friday evening.
Do you expect uncontrolled over-reaction, fear, paranoia, riots, maybe Syria decides the world is over anyway, so why not do the unthinkable, or
whatever comes to mind? If you do, it probably wouldn’t wait until 11 PM on Dec. 20th to get started, so when would the snowball actually begin to
roll? Not many days left, right?
