BERKELEY (CBS/AP) — The University of California, Berkeley says a $1 million gift will help provide scholarships to nearly 200 students who are illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigrant students are not eligible for federal grants, loans or work-study positions. But the 2011 California Dream Act made them eligible for state financial aid and privately funded scholarships.

Haas, Jr. Fund President Ira Hirschfield says he hopes other donors will consider “providing funding to help undocumented students achieve their potential.”

Hold it, are you serious? What about the 200 students who are living here legally? Shouldn't that money go to them?

So you found out who's living here illegally but instead of punishing them or sending them back to where ever they came from you reward them with money?

Where is this country headed to? Might as well just open up the borders completely and forget about citizenship and what nots.

Illegals are catered to on many levels. It is a slap in the face to citizens and to anyone coming here through the proper channels.

Besides the scholarships, they are even given in-state tuition in some schools. So an illegal gets yet another break while a citizen would have to pay out of state rates. Many of our kids need help but are having to drop out because of high costs.

Wow - this is going one enormous step beyond not sending illegals home. I have to wonder if eventually O'Bummer will make the status of "illegal alien" illegal. Then it'll only be illegal to be a Mexican in Mexico. Hence, the Holder gunrunning scandal.

I'm kind of starting to get it now.
