I just saw this while channel surfing on Fox News. Apparently a seven year old girl has been in full remission for months after being treated with a form of HIV.
I'm on my phone, otherwise I would post some links.
Maybe someone could post some links or help to confirm this.

Sounds very promising.
But it involves genetic engineering so it must be bad, right?

There are several videos of this story on YouTube:

The treatment described in the article is still in its experimental stages but with more research it could very well be the cure. Also it's cheaper than a bone marrow transfusion.
I hope they continue to develop this

No, it involves a corporation, which is bad...they'll never get anything right, they really don't care to, and my guess is that their cure will end up killing someone.

If this is the same story as on the TV news ...

note: OP's link requires a membership login so I couldn't see that article. Here's an October 2011 link that should work without JOINING a news site - www.msnbc.msn.com...

Anyway, the girl was on her deathbed, the doctors had the family called in for her final visit and deathwatch. She was to die before the next morning. She made it at the last minute though and she's alive, well and cured.

I can't find the TV news story; but, here's a current alt news writeup on the girl I heard about on TV (because my Internet was down all day long!). rt.com...

Edit to add: Found an ATS Breaking News thread on it too - www.abovetopsecret.com...

Pretty amazing, too bad it mirrors I Am Legend, the only difference is they used a modified version of the measles to cure cancer. Either way when Darkseekers are tearing you limb from limb don't say I didn't warn you.
