Because it is the caring and compassionate thing to do.
You know, hook more people on the Govt Sugar Daddy.

I never said I know you. The majority of my statements were directed at the military as a cohesive entity, not any individual branch. The parts in which I did address you specifically were in reaction to your seeming belief that food stamps are worth less than military funding.

So far as I know, food stamps are keeping people alive. Our military is killing people in their own country over political beliefs, which is disgusting after we just kicked Afghanistan's butt for doing the same thing to us. If we weren't so reliant on second world countries to provide stuff that we, as a "first world" country, can't even provided ourselves with, we wouldn't have that problem.

You guys making fun of the military, need to have served at least two years.

My husband when into the Marines right out of High School, and served in Vietnam, you know what the military taught him, a strong work effort.

Why do I need to have served at least two years to learn a strong work ethic? You aren't making some silly claim that a strong work ethic could only come from a military career are you?

Its funny that you don't see yourselves as the government.

Oh, so all that is required is for someone to "Believe" that they need it???

Geez, no wonder we are screwed. Instead of people being taught that it is embarrassing to take from the Govt, it is the norm if they "believe" they deserve it.

Yeah, not an entitlement society at all.

Oh good hell.
Food stamps are the sole thing keeping people alive???
Now I have heard it all.

But, don't worry about your generalized assumptions on me.

I love when military talks about entitlement society. It would be funny if it wasn't so weird.

Yep.

Military member. A person that actually does a job, works for a living and has a high chance of being placed in harms way. The Military member works for the benefits received.

VS.

Welfare recipient. A large amount of people that don't' work or produce anything. A small amount that do work, but have low paying jobs that are not the fault of society. People in this category don't work for the benefits they receive.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I wonder what the difference is.

Does this make you feel better than others?

I commend your service, and I have family who have killed and been shot for this country so I have a right to talk about this.

They specifically did not return with this attitude, but I did notice that the attitude is propagated within the military. Would you care to comment more on this? When I go to the dollar store they ask if I would like to donate to poor military families. Sounds to me like they need to refuse to serve until they get a pay raise but w/e. This is coming from someone who was med'd out of 11D OSUT (and rightfully so) and is now on food stamps.

Am I going to get a response on this? I understand you got caught up arguing with people.

As for your comments on "they knew blah blah". What if they lose their bonus because they get hurt in OSUT? What if they get their bonus stolen in fine print on the way to OSUT (If you say it doesn't happen, you are misinformed it happened to people in my cycle). What if they got their leg blown off half way through their contract and lost their bonus for not finishing their contract (my cousin, who was a respected Scout, is the one who informed me of it. He was in in the beginning of Iraq, for context, and is one of those who got a purple heart and had to take human life while trying to save lives but being left unable to thanks to the chain of command....

Your statement is a glowing example that the individual is over taxed.

i never disputed this one bit and no, those taxes you mentioned go into a "pool" and are distributed legislatively or not.

and your statements prove just how little the average joe knows about how their government really works. yeah, i get it, so long as you get a paycheck, what do you care ?

actually, no it doesn't.
Federal tax supports Federal Government, not the people.

for someone so against the Fed government, you should have at least figured that one out by now.

no, i am a fan of free-markets, not capitalism per se or any ism for that matter.
self-governed free markets, as was originally intended.

fyi, as an American, i've always been a "capitalist" economist but i enjoy a socialist commune at home, figure that

the difference is ... my participants WANT to participate.
good luck on a national scale.

nope, i'd prefer MINIMAL government, local would be good

explain whatever you think needs to be explained.
you keep saying your explaining but i haven't seen it yet.

i think highly of myself ?? sure do. is there some reason i shouldn't ?
do i find myself superior to ANY OTHER animal? (as in on a pedestal)
nah, i'm not conceited just enlightened

you're confused but that's nothing new

why don't you go back and read my post on pg 11 (www.abovetopsecret.com...) and then come on back and contribute more nonsensical member bashing ... it's been fun.

I said, why not step in and help out his grandmother.

I've lived on much less than $700 for food a month, much less.
actually, you didn't cause if you had, i wouldn't have responded to the rude assumption that started this exchange.

and grandma has $700 per month to LIVE on, not just buy food with ... like i said, your comprehension sucks.
and yes, it can be done, i feed 2 adults on less than $200 but not without community (charity) assistance.

and at no point did i suggest he shouldn't help his grandma but you aren't even giving enough consideration for the possibility that he can't, for whatever reason.

My reading compreshension is fine. I responded to you when you said:

wonder, when was the last time you got along and fed yourself for $700 per Month, not per week like service members get.

Looks like, if you can't understand what you wrote yourself, that you are the one who needs to work on the 'ol reading comprehension.

I think it is weird when people cannot grasp the simple concept that being paid to provide a good or service is a tad bit different than being paid to provide...nothing.

So people who are touting this "base minimum for a humane society" jabber... you do realize this is the government forcing people to provide these services for other people, correct? You do realize that the government is too incompetent to have adequate judgement on who deserves the support, and who already has enough, right?

Why does the government have to act like we aren't humane, and can't support our own communities? Why can't some communities actually not support those who are most desperate with basic humane services on their own? Oh right, the parasites who pwn the government. The corporate conglomerates, and their majority shareholders, The banking elite.

Don't you see this makes us dependent on these bastards who are running the system which was originally designed to free us from such tyranny? Can't you see that before these bastard parasites legalized thuggery and sucked out the excess from our communities, we willingly provided for those whom we deemed were worthy on our own? This isn't the job of the government to inefficiently, and ineffectively decide that we can't provide for our own.

This is just a way to keep us dependent on a system which enslaves us all. Don't play on my emotions, supporters of welfare. I know how to help provide for my local community. Shame on you.

We agree on quite a bit.
But, I do understand how Govt works and about the pool idea.
Local Govt is what we should be all striving for, not centralized Fed Govt.
I am not exactly against the Fed Govt. I just understand it and know that is has WAY too much power and needs to be reigned back in.
