I was on that 'other' thread you alluded to in your beginning statement and decided to come over to this thread.

Like you, and as others have also responded, if nothing happens on Dec. 21st, 2012, there is the possibility of terrible, horrific consequences for a
great many people. For these great many people, should no apocalyptic, ascension, or any number of doomsday, end of the world scenarios Not occur,
they may feel totally helpless, filled with dread and that their lives have no meaning and simply end their lives. (Many reasons, personal and unique,
but also mass similarities)
This would truly be a travesty, however none us really knows right now what will actually happen. However, history has told us, shown us, that there
are people who place all of their trust into prophesies of others and when these prophesies do not occur, people choose to tragically end their
lives.
I personally do not believe any thing of significance will happen on the 21st, 22nd, or 23rd that would warrant mass hysteria, except for the hysteria
of those who thought something ominous was going to occur, but it didn't.
Individually what can we do? Just be extra careful, safe and observant. Your choice of staying home and inside during this time period probably is a
wise choice. I have no doubt that there will be some crazies out on the roads, sober or not, but if you can avoid the roads, probably a smart choice.
If you can remain at home with family and loved ones, probably a smart choice.
