R.I.P....Sir Patrick Moore Dies at age 89

I began to watch The Sky At Night when I was 6 years old(1973) on a Saturday afternoon on BBC2. That was where my interest for Astronomy began.... Thankyou Sir Patrick R.I.P . "A Good Innings" as they say.

I will say RIP but his monocle falling out every second had me rolling on the floor. Why o why anyone still wears that idiotic piece of jewelry, unless to say I'm smarter and clearly more sophisticated then you. Ta ta.

I had started writing a post about UFOs in Britain (it's still about a week from being ready) over the weekend which includes a small piece about Cedric Allingham. A few hours later I heard the sad news about Sir Patrick Moore.

For those who don't know, Allingham wrote a book called Flying Saucer From Mars in 1954 and claimed to be a "contactee". However many suspected that Allingham was really Sir Patrick trying to prove how gullible people were in believing the likes of Adamski etc.

He never admitted to it and I guess we'll never know now.

He was a true British eccentric but he knew his stuff and his enthusiasm inspired generations to gaze at the stars at wonder.

RIP Sir Patrick Moore.

I didn't know any of this about him until I started reading articles on his death.

I didn't inderstand anything he said, but I think he was a great man.
