Ed Asner does an audio appearance in this video made by the California federation of teachers, that chastizes the rich for not paying their fair share of taxes. The right wing is now targeting and attacking Mr Asner, calling it a "disgusting hit piece" and "propaganda". I guess Mr Asner struck a nerve.

When I see a video like this it gives me hope that people are finally waking up.

Why wouldn't it upset him? The taker class is growing while the maker class is shrinking. Asking those that already give more than their fair share to give to those that are giving nothing is just a slap in the face.

Of course, don't you know the right wing, wealthy overfed lunatics are the only ones allowed to spread BS Propeganda?^
Taker class? The real taker class IS the wealthy, taking the money right out of OUR country and reinvesting it off the shores of the Caymen Islands. That's the real leech and then take our tax money for $500 trillion TARP from the government, oh Government handouts are good only for that taker class at the 1% they are entitled to your money and if you don't buy their gargbage or invest with their banks they'll make sure you pay for it through your tax money, and still offer no credit nor jobs and still call us the lazy Americans...WTF ?!??! And idiots like the above reply in this thread, stick their own foot in it by supporting the real taker class while denigrating the people WHO REALLY MAKE THIS COUNTRY RUN! Why don't you go tell this to someone defending your sorry A** in Iraq that they're a worthless taker and I'll laugh as she or he kicks your sorry stupid A$$.

Rush is such a fumbling, funny, um what word am I looking for here -- full part of the agenda. He's a hasbeen, really.
To show how the machine is greased, here's a fox piece on Mr. Asner's video script. fox called the video disgusting, and introduced the actor as a "radical left-wing"...
feeding the machine--

There are just as many wealthy on the left, and they are just as hypocritical and greedy as those on the right. Instead of calling this "maker vs. taker", I'll call it "producer vs. recipient".

They deserve a slap in the face.

The only thing sadder than the financial raping of our country, is that people like yourself actually believe the wealthy have the right to do it. You're like a chicken who is pro KFC.

Besides anything upsetting to Rush is usually a good thing.

Even though the video is clearly non partisan and also illustrates a very real problem in America I honestly see this once again being a thread of right vs. Left. The real problem is greed and corruption and its ravaging this country.

The worst part? There are many many people who will defend being hustled and swindled by the rich even if they are also part of the working poor. It makes me sad

This video is an excellent layman's representation of what happened years ago to today.
I fully support this viewpoint and if a person can't see it, they are asleep.

We can all notice what has taken place in the country the past few decades.
The rich folks were paying their fair share, but when they discovered the way to make more money, they shipped our jobs away. Congress is bought and paid for, by the rich, and your vote is meaningless. If you don't have money, or support from the rich, you can't get into Congress. Our roads are deteriorating as with our electric grid and the rich folks just point the blame to someone else. Not the fact that they aren't paying their fair share.

If we have a system setup to be beneficial to our community by allowing everyone, rich, middle or poor, to pay their fair dues in order to keep everything in tip top shape...and certain people are gettin away with not putting in their share, it leads to a broken community. Loss of jobs, loss of income, etc...

Everyone can see this is exactly what is happening right?

"The rich are getting mighty while the poor folk stay the same.
The middle class just seems to fade away..." Chuck Ragan.

Excellent video!

To me the saddest part of it all is that the propaganda in this argument has allowed the right to convince the middle class and small business owners that they are the ones under attack. Those with billions are now wearing the middle class like a bullet proof vest - or a suicide bomb, take your choice.

The old saying about always being able to hire half of the poor to kill the other half is so clearly visible here. The rhetoric has most people who are barely hanging on, firmly of the belief that it's those beneath them who are dragging them down - and not that those above them are actually standing on top of all of us.

Guess what happens when the poor are finally and irrevocably killed off, Dear friends of the middle class? YOU will be the new poor - and the next to be vilified and destroyed.

It's clear to me that borders no longer exist for the one percent. Lines on maps have become archaic. Yet we still cling to them. We talk about first world vs second world vs third world nations. The reality is that, the way things are headed, those standards won't apply to countries in the future. But to people.

A worldwide caste system based upon inherited wealth and power.

If Asner really believed in his work he would immediately give all of his millions away and shack up in a cardboard shelter.....

Ed Asner, even if he has millions, is not part of the system that siphons the wealth out of this country. He isn't a banker bleeding this country dry nor a CEO shipping jobs overseas. There's a big difference between people who simply have wealth and those who are using wealth to pervert democracy, rewrite the tax code to their benefit, and drive the middle class down.

How about he does that right *after* every republican business owner fires all their employees that won't work for free, and prove once and for all that they make it all by their very herosome lonesome?

I see....Liberals can pick and choose how the wealth was accumulated before they start pointing fingers.

Asner has "good wealth", therefore can tell those naughty bankers they should give theirs up, but he can keep his.

Straw man.

All anyone asked the rich to do, even in the video, was to pay taxes. Your knee-jerk response of "Well then why doesn't Ed give away his fortune?" is totally misleading. Nobody asked for anyone to give away their fortunes. Only that they pay a responsible and reasonable level of taxes.

The propagandists on the right have managed to turn the argument into a dollar for dollar comparison, based solely upon FICA ( this allows them to scream, over and over again that the poor pay no taxes ), and not a percent based system.

Trying to say that a pauper should have to pay, dollar for dollar, what Warren Buffet does is not only unreal. It's completely ridiculous. Each should pay into the system in proportion to their wealth.

Ed Asner, BTW, probably stands to see an increase in his taxes once the Bush era tax cuts expire. Seems he has no problem with it.

Exactly Signals!
People who don't believe in tickle down economics hate rich republicans, and only rich republicans. The reason for this hate is envy.

You really don't get it at all. This shouldn't have anything to do with liberal vs. conservative. Those with conservative values have been duped into thinking they must defend the very people that are ravaging this country.

There is nothing wrong with being a conservative or a liberal, the problem is people like yourself blame the poor or those with a mind to realize that our crumbling system is a result of greed. So realize trickle down economics doesn't work, and that those with ungodly amounts of wealth and power would do anything, literally anything to perpetuate a system that only benefits them.

Greed has sucker punched all of us, and instead of fighting back, you defend the right to do so, and ask for some more....liberals get called pacifists, yet you are willing to stand by and watch without protest, while offering to bend over.

This socialist propaganda seems to be aimed at children, that seems to be the problem. Political indoctrination should never be geared towards children, and it definitely should not be taught in our schools. The same group that would like to keep religion out of schools, is the same one cramming political ideolgy down our childrens throats. Shame on them!

No it doesn't seem to be aimed towards children... And paying taxes in and of itself is not socialism. Go take economics 101 at your local community college, or read a book, an encyclopedia will do. You don't seem to have a true understanding of socialism.
