Brilliant thanks for sharing, it's incredibly interesting.

It does remind me of a virus and it's quite scary that there are things we aren't familiar with just waiting to be dug up or discovered. So much mystery in this world still.

Keep it away from me! I hate wriggly things. Especially ones that wriggle into other things.

This is awesome. I love when they find something really ancient like this...it makes the mind run wild with possibilities. Alien bacterium? Zombie virus? I especially the idea that this is what killed the dinosaurs! Although we all know it was time traveling Lincoln.

My first impression when seeing this was this

A Virus

Im (sic) pretty sure the picture you posted is a phage / bacteriophage and not a virus.

Wow, how very sad.

Here is the definition, and not from Weki:
"bacteriophage, also called phage, or bacterial virus, any of a group of viruses that infect bacteria. Bacteriophages were discovered independently by Frederick W. Twort in Great Britain (1915) and Félix d’Hérelle in France (1917). D’Hérelle coined the term bacteriophage, meaning “bacteria eater,” to describe the agent’s bacteriocidal ability."
www.britannica.com...
And just in case pictures are a preferred educational medium, I present this:

BTW, this is a Phage

Aye well its not realy a factual site, People come here for the fantasy stuff a lot of the time. Im here for the political and mainly UFO stuff(which may be considered fantasy) but I also love the interesting stuff like this that you see here now and again.

My pet hate about this site is predictions, I personally think they should be banned, or if you get one wrong your banned from the site

interesting find.

if the leech's mucus was able to keep an organic tissue from falling apart, can the mucus be duplicated in a lab and then applied to people? mummy making gel maybe?

But I thought the world was only 5000 years old and man was the first creature?

JOKING, this is a remarkable discovery, wish i could properly see the creature.

I'll be straight-forward honest:

the reason why the "my mom turned into zombies" thread have many more stars & favorites than this is, like any other things, due to this simple basic conclusion:

that the human's Imagination is always far 100x much more interesting & vivid/lively and full of variety (not to mention much more mysterious, and fascinating!),
rather than this seemingly mundane, "dry", boring "scientific" findings, as often the case.

Since 200 million years old is a completely mad up number It's more likely to be 2000 years old.
