society does not need much guiding as we are very easy to predict and even easier to direct.

It seems that there is alot of strange things going on as we approach the 12-21-12 date. There were reports the other day 12/5? that folks in CA were seeing 2 suns in the sky and some were posting pics but I can't get to them now to link to them for you. But this thing doesn't look like it's coming in from behind the sun does it? My ancient computer had a hard time viewing the vids, and they were super grainy for me.
There were also reports of strange noises being heard across the united states in TX, CA, OR, and some other places I think. And then you add in the Japan Quake and it really does seem like natural anomolies are abounding as we lead up to this doom date.

I was speaking to Leonid Elenin to try to get some info on this object and he has no idea....I found this strange but he said they can't determine the size of the object from STEREO's images.
I just want to make sure this is an actual known object and is just passing through,lol

I wish we could get an answer here.

What designation/name has this object been given?

Was it ISON that found it?

I have no idea , I went on Elenins page and posted then saw he replied so we started talking....he seriously has no clue....

Plenty to be read here about C/2012 V4 Comet Pons Gambart seen after 188 years.

Visual observers have estimated the comet to be as bright as magnitude 9.0 to 9.5. Unfortunately the comet is located in eastern Sagittarius low in the southwest right during evening twilight. For the next few nights it will be located within a few degrees of Mars which will help with finding the comet. (As you can see from the plot to the right, the comet appears along the line-of-sight between the Earth and Mars but is not actually close to Mars). This will make for difficult observing due to its very low elevation. To make matters worse the comet is only going to get even lower in the future. It is possible the comet may brighten some as it approaches perihelion on Dec. 19 and 0.81 AU from the Sun. By then the comet will be almost 1.7 AU from Earth.

According to RSOE EDIS, it's supposed to do a flyby on Dec 11. And it's a pretty big sob too, estimated diameter is 5.4 km.

509.000 km.

Earth to Moon distance:
356,400 km to 406,700 km

So it's pretty close, but small compared to the moon.

that's about 500k kilometers or 310k miles

1 AU = ~150 million kilometers

For an object thats only 57m it looks kinda big.

Anyone know if you can see this from the southern hemisphere? I would love to have a look at it with my telescope.
