so my son got a brand new gaming pc today. put in the password, put it in again, all was fine; went to reput the password and suddenly it's rejected. Even in safe mode we need a password. UGH. the boot disk won't start, nothing is working. so hopefully cust service will fix it.

never mind. we went from being on hold for an hour 3rd in the que to first, to 38th. it's from ibuypower.

so he's just going to try to hack it somehow.

freakin' ridiculous. pay 1200 for a pc and can't even use it.

$1200? Alienware perhaps? I know a people that own them and they had a few small problems with theirs at first. Nothing like what you have described though. Bummer.

not alienware, no. xD

but he's doing a thing to bypass the password. it's the only way. we tried everything from capslock to messing up variations of the password, nothing works. SO annoying.

It would depend on the Operating System, but I think ophcrack could get the password. I do believe it is freeware.

Yup, freeware over at sourceforge.

if it has a cdrom you can download a disk called hirens boot disk

boot from this disk, and in the linux based first screen you can use the password changer to reset all passwords including administrator.

ps, next time write your password down (:
