Deputies arrested 49-year-old Rodney J. Blanchard on Sunday and charged him with four-counts of animal cruelty and one-count of battery after a visitor to his home discovered four kittens inside a freezer.

The visitor, Eva Mulder, says Blanchard asked her to get a beer out of the freezer. When she did not find any beer, Blanchard told her that there were kittens inside the freezer.

This makes me absolutely furious! I am thankful that Eva went over there for a beer, and found the kittens, in plastic zip lock bags in the freezer. She first thought they where steaks or something.. Who would really think a person would put little baby kittens in the freezer??
She said she kept hearing sounds of kittens comming from the freezer. When she went to open the freezer, Rodney J. Blanchard shoved her, and tried to keep her from saving the kittens. She went and called the cops, and he was arrested. 1 of the kittens died. 3 others where saved.

Some people are just sick.. sick.. sick.. I really dislike those who hurt animals. But a little kitten, gezz'us.

I'm pretty sure this is how sociopaths start. I understand there are people with a distaste for cats but torturing them is a sure sign of a sick-o.

Some people do indeed make me sick as well. Imagine if we actually had punishments here in the U.S. that were more like India... crime would be a lot lower in my opinion. You steal, we cut your hand off. You do something like this, we put you in a freezer so you can see how horrible this is. I think it would be interesting indeed.

Deputies transported the kittens to the Emergency Care Center At Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialist in Largo for further care. The SPCA responded to the scene and the kittens are currently in their custody.

Are my taxes paying for this baloney?

I don't want to see animals abused but every time I read one of these stories that's the first thing I wonder.

I agree with the other posters in here, and share your frustration.. I happen to see this on channel 5 news, this was a local event, but felt so mad, I had to vent this out.

How is this a waste of tax payers money? They took them to a shelter!!! Perhaps you should biatch about public officials using vehicles for personal reasons! Pretty sure that happens all over and costs tax payers a hell of a lot more money! Don't you?? I am sure more taxpayer money is wasted on less compassionate things that a human could do...................GEESH!!!!

I will just use a little self control, and remember what kind of person you are for future reference.

If you take issue with taxes being used in an ill fashion, why not make a thread about our government using YOUR tax money to make death machines, and kill innocent men and women of this world..
I am glad the cops took the kittens to the SPCA, and they got cared for, and will be adopted out.

Best thing you could do, is stay out of threads like this, and make yourself look like such a cold hearted person.

My point was merely I found it to be a bit much for the deputies to "transport" the freaking cats.

Umm perhaps they where close to dying and needed help at a rescue center as fast as possible ?
Don't know what country you come from but in my country the police deal with all matters where they are needed, that's all from cats in trees, drunk people and driving them home, cows on the road, half dead animals on roads. And we love em for it, oh im from Denmark btw

Some people in this world are just monsters. While at the root of this comes some drunk hill billy here in Florida, who thought it would be a good way to get rid of these Kittens.
Kittens are born the cute factor. Which protects them from things like this.
The cute factor does not work on those who are extreamly sick in the head, or are very drunk and on drugs. Their minds are not firing on all pistons. Maybe this guy would have done this stone cold sober. Either way he will have plenty of time to think about it while sitting in jail. Hope he serves a good amount of time in there.
