Maybe its just too naive, but how about a tax on every dollar, the %age to be determined, but I think around 20% for every American taxpayer, and every American paying a tax, and NO tax breaks for corporations. Those in extreme poverty, say $1,000 or less a month paying 5%. And disabled paying 0%. Effective tax breaks for Agriculture, ie. edible produce for human and livestock.

We are forced to live by our decisions, we are stuck with our genetics, and we are controlled by our perception of life. This is the reality of the world.

"All you who voted for something like a 'dream', are living in a dream... or must admit a desire to live in a dream."

That's what you American's voted for, 51% of you.

Consider this, "Everyone knows being an artist, is not the same as being a doctor. The artist may not make much money, but may have abetter chance at finding happiness, where the doctor may have more money, but might not ever know happiness." The artist never blames the doctor for a lack of material things. Because the artist remembers the day he chose art, over money. If you are not wealthy and/or happy, it's your choice. And if you are not happy about other people's positions in society, do something to help them, not hurt them. Don't use the word "fair", Is your life not in your control?

"Never go to the Amazon and buy Jaguar jewelry, thinking you're helping the Indians."

Step up to the challenge of life, get rid of the word "fair". To say "its not fair", or "unfair" means you're disadvantaged, and that's a lie you keep telling yourself. You are all powerful, and have lost the ability to objectively look at your own life...and so you think its not fair. Or everything must be fair. Who is Darwin? Is nature fair?

Those that do not, or will not harness the energy from hard work and success, despite unplanned hurdles or new found circumstances, are depriving your future of self-worth and strength. Strength comes with making something of your own, finding success in the little things, not taking from someone else. Respect and dignity are slipping away along with the American dream.

Some of us will attempt to make it right for the others, but when we do, the word "fair" will be a four letter word. You will not get free school because you're skin color, or enjoy the 'rights' claimed by other so called 'disadvantaged' groups. Tell the children in El Salvador, or a young man in Sudan that its just not "fair".

There isn't any fiscal cliff, the states fell off the cliff a long time ago. The only thing that is happening is America is about to hit the ground - at terminal velocity.

The USA in all intents and purpose is BROKE. Go ahead and tax the rich more (top 5% - 180k+), hell - lets increase their taxes by 50%, at best you are going to get about 500 billion dollars (and IF you do that, you can watch the rich leave the states as fast as they can) With yearly deficits at about 1.5+ trillion, you are going to have to make their tax rate at about 90%.

Instead of going into all of it, watch this video:

Do I think the rich should get taxed more? Sure, and I also think the "TOO BIG TO FAILS" should be allowed to sink but I also think Americans need to take a long hard look at the social programs that they can no longer afford. The problems that the states is facing, hell - the world is facing is multifaceted and if you just look at one side of the issue then nothing is going to happen.....until it all falls apart.

Senate Republicans voted down the “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,”

“This is one of the saddest days I’ve seen in almost 28 years in the Senate and it needs to be a wakeup call about a broken institution that's letting down the American people,” said Sen. Kerry. “We need to fix this place because what happens and doesn’t happen here affects millions of lives. Today the dysfunction hurt veterans and the disabled and that’s unacceptable. This treaty was supported by every veterans group in America and Bob Dole made an inspiring and courageous personal journey back to the Senate to fight for it. It had bipartisan support, and it had the facts on its side, and yet for one ugly vote, none of that seemed to matter. We won’t give up on this and the Disabilities Treaty will pass because it’s the right thing to do, but today I understand better than ever before why Americans have such disdain for Congress and just how much must happen to fix the Senate so we can act on the real interests of our country.”John Kerry

"The vile and reprehensible behavior of these republicans today will stay with them. Americans are disgusted with their disgraceful acts of obstructionism, and apparently these pathological traitors cannot comprehend the outrage they're building against themselves. The next election may be the only way to drive the lesson home."Christine Hashemi

Why would the US want to sign a treaty which would obligate them to listen to foreign recommendations? If people are so concerned, get the United States to pass its own laws.

House approves resolution to keep Internet control out of UN hands

Everything the UN gets involved in is to further reduce peoples rights.
