Those make her look up to her right. Something directly forward. Lower the iris more.

I may need to start with really large eyes and work from that.

I know you said it didn't have to be 'gorilla' theme but, oh well.....

On the 1st one, I liked the expression...

The 2nd one, I played around a little....

And the 3rd one, well, never mind...

I was wondering if someone can transform this into the perfect avatar. I like her cute face next to the funny expression of the cat.

I need Zarni to confirm the eyes I currently have. I think the shading will be good, and the blending seemed to work fairly well (may have to tinker a bit with the right eyes border).

The first set of eyes looks much more natural than the second, although neither are looking directly at the camera. I think if you split the difference on the two...

No need to isolate just the eyes at this point in the process. It's easy to make the individual frames with just the needed parts later as long as the overall picture remains static.

I figure three frames with the eyelids in different stages would suffice for a smooth transition

and with the twinkle....how many frames? 2 or 3?

Should the twinkle be more of a dim, or a brighten, then twist, then fade?

I am going to work on this tonight. I found a good image to start with that is over 1024X800.

Yeah, the second eyes suck. I was about to fall asleep when doing that. Must have been drunk on sand or something. LOL

I think a 3-frame twinkle would be cool starting dim then, brighten, then fade. I like the twist idea as well. Might as well throw that frame in too and we can use it or not.

Yeah, if you were going for "mannequin" you nailed it

....but the eye color is better than the one on the left. Carry on, gentlemen.

Yeah. The technique is right. The artwork is badbadbad. LOL

I need to stop messing with my computer when I start getting drowsy.

Messing around with the iris with "colorize" in GIMP and moved them to the right just a bit...

EDIT: She still not staring directly at the cam.

One more shot before I head out for a bit.

Proof of concept... the more I think about it, I don't think there is a need for too many frames for the eyelid transition... maybe one half-closed eyelid (if that), as the eye blinks so fast, it doesn't really matter that much.

Nice, so far. I think she's missing her eyelashes, or something when she opens her eyes.....there's something missing. I like the open, blink, blink close, but perhaps it's just that she keeps her eyes open too long......but, that's the perfect spot to add a sparkle in!

Maybe something evil looking, kinda reptilian about her eyes. Need softened? Dunno, just tossing out ideas.

Definitely on the right track.

I sent her to the make-up department for mascara and to soften things up a bit. That's about the best I can do with my skill level. I think I'll let Furry work his magic tonight and check back in tomorrow.

I didn't do anything with the image but size it. So technically that would be the source image. Unless you want the actual unsized image...?
