Thank you.

I am going to work on blending different textures now, as well as just colors. So far, what I am currently doing looks pretty good. I will post it up tonight when I am done.

The avatar I have....it is a work in progress. It is an excerpt from a much larger image that I am making

this source image is kind of large. but i wanted to show the 3d effects that can be easily added in. I spent about 20 minutes on this to create a final outcome

from this image

Simple to do:

1. Use the "Select"-> "Color Range"
2. Select the color range you want in your selection using the dropper tool
3 CTRL-C to copy, CTRL-V to paste
4. Under "Blending options" tinker with the bevel options
5. Wash, rinse, repeat for any other colors you want to make a new layer for.

Toying with the settings is the best way to figure out what you want to do. Photoshop has the basic tools for making a 3d appearance (although, not high quality rendered 3d).

NOTE: to get the "hazy look, i just duplicated the final product, then did a gaussian blur. on the top layer. Went to blending options, and blended the layer using "Lighten".

Very nice......thanks for the tip

I have a few hours of play time so will experiment.
I'm getting better with the 'coloring' and playing around with the hues/contrast but still got a lot to learn.

Just got done making some 4th of July avis, so will post them soon.

Thanks.....
Here's a few

With our work schedule and the way we travel, I figured I'd go ahead and post these in case I don't have time later.

If you select an area, then copy/paste it, you can also use the blending options to overlay color without losing shading. depending on the contrast between the two colors, but if you use "color overlay", select your color, then blend the color overlay using "Color", you can typically get the shading info to remain intact.

That is how i colored up the hitler for Sheepslayer. And it is how i typically recolor eyes.

Thanks again......

I'm writing all your tips down in my notebook.

Any time you guys/gals give tips, I try to save them.....

I know they're here in this thread but it's quicker to be able to get my hands on it and flip it open.
Especially if I'm some where with no internet.

Any creators available? Just got an idea for a new avatar if possible.

I'd like someone in like a zoo trainer/safari outfit. Feeding something(preferably a doggie biscuit) to a troll.
Is that possible? Think it'll make for some laughs. Maybe a bridge background? Or jungle? Ya'll the creators, not me. You would know what looks good better then me. Thanks in advance...if its possible.

hey guys, quick question.

I want an avatar, but not my traditional tree stuff.

I`d like a few made from the TV Comedy Archer.

en.wikipedia.org...(TV_series)

The imagines are easy to find, any of the characters will do, as long as it`s T&C friendly of course. I would prefer something with Barry or Archer in it, but creativeness will win the day lol

I suck at making these, and yall are so damn good.

If no one else comes to your rescue in the meantime, I will be happy to look at both requests this evening after work. I don't expect a crazy late night tonight, unless another persons travel plans change. In any event....stand by, someone will be with your shortly.

That first one with pam in it isn't T&C friendly, that's no cigarette

I like the two others though, that's cool.

I think my favorite is archer in the Columbian hit squad outfit or the "slightly darker black turtle neck".

Fans of the show will get those lol

Good eye, I never noticed that.

Here's one I done up in grey tones...

And if you want his eyes to blink every 5 seconds, you can use this avatar below with the background. I couldn't test it, but it should theoretically line up perfectly with the background.
