The ancients didn't know anything. Everyone would be better off if they realized that.

I'm sure people will look back on us one day and say the same thing. Or simply laugh at us.

I'm really not sure what to think anymore regarding this pending 12/21/12 doom date. But here we are just a few weeks away.

One thing I will say though is I'm completely baffled as to why so many people are so confident nothing is going to happen. And it's somewhat alarming that even NASA is running their own PR campaign trying to assure the masses that it will be just another day.

I'm not saying something is going to happen, but to completely write off a date that multiple sources/ancient cultures have pointed to for hundreds, if not thousands of years, is somewhat arrogant and qui9te frankly stupid.

Personally I do hope it's just another uneventful day, but I can't disregard so many different convergences that all point to some sort of event during this time frame. But again we only have 3 weeks to go to either be proven right or wrong in whatever we believe.

What evidence is there to suggest that ancients all pointed to this very date? Most were just theories composed by modern day people.. Timewave is just a theory, The Mayan one seems to be just BS when it comes to the doom porn, what else is there?

The only thing that would suggest we are approaching some tipping point is the unification of Israel..

What are they going to Egypt for? Do they want to look at all the people rioting over there?

I don't know.. maybe.. A friend of mine was there during the summer and she didn't mention rioting. so i don't know.

Kinda how apparently russians are hysterical about doom gloom and they know nothing about it...

maybe only a group of people are hysterical and rioting.. not the whole nation.

Do foriegners think all of american are disgruntled like teh OWS movement?? I guess a rumor can be started in foreign lands that all of the USA is protesting by showing footage of the OWS movement.

As the date approaches I'm starting to sway towards not being so confident nothing at all will happen. I would hate to be ignorant and cocky, not prepare and be sorry when it starts.

This does have me thinking now I should stock up on the items, that people like in Russia would empty off the shelves. Things could build up into panic stage for all I know. They might all come out of the woodwork. This might cause some things to be cut off as if it happened anyways. Or a false flag. Who knows.

I will do some light preparations as a just in case. I do already have some emergency supplies. I can't really do much more than that, with my disability. I can't run or drive anywhere. I guess I would just get drunk and watch the show. There's not much else I can do if disaster strikes. I might act a little crazy and ask my children to come stay with me on the just in case basis. So we are together. They have cars at least. I will buy them the gas and remind them to be careful about it running out if panic strikes. I just realized my son will be vacationing in Mexico for Xmas. I hope nothing happens if he is that far from us. He is also the only person who can carry me because I can't walk and the one with the big vehicle for loading. I can't ask him to leave his keys. He would go nuts if I asked that for the 2012 thing. He hates conspiracies. I don't really know what to do.

Wow I can't believe I'm thinking this way now at this late stage. I never realized it was so close to the time. It must be getting to me now and I didn't know it.

I don't think a comet is coming and don't believe any of the Mayan prophecy.

I don't believe we would be told about anything of this magnitude. I'm not a scientist so how do I know what anything means.

I'm not sure about the other ones that coincide on this date. I really don't know what they are.

The only other thing I know of is my own stupid dream prophecy I had in 1989.
It was more if a nightmare and bothered me for years until I finally had to convince myself it was stupid to think it was important. Sparing all the details it was more or less about the universe ceasing to exist, or changing, it was definitely ELE, not just Earth, as I understood it, and there was a word connected to it, I never understood, it was EQUINOX.
That concerns me a little because doesn't that mean any solstice Like this date? Is this particular one any more significant? What time or date would this be? Is it after midnight of the 20th, so early on the 21st PST ?
There were other words I wrote down but lost now because I decided to toss them in the trash, I remember important, harbinger, and don't know the rest, i think one started with the letter U, might have been utmost or ultimate, not sure. Anyways it was only a dream, means nothing. Yet at the time I thought one day I will know what equinox means. I didn't have a computer to google back then.

I guess I will hit reply and post this even though this is not like me to say these things.

Total BS no multiple (ancient) sources have pointed to Dec 21, 2012. This whole hoopla started over the Mayan Calendar in which the Mayans stated nothing about the end of the world.

Im pretty tired of people like you and shadow saying this.

PLEASE POST PROOF AND SOURCES! And no i don't mean some youtube vid choked full of lies and pseudo science

I have a running challenge on this site. Whenever someone says that there are multiple ancient sources pointing to 2012 I ask them to prove it. I'm not looking for quotes from New Age websites or from people who are making money off this 2012 nonsense. I'm looking for either the primary sources that reference 2012 or scholarly journal articles that support these claims. So far no one has been able to provide what I ask for. Instead those challenged tend to stop posting in the thread where they are challenged. A very few claim that they are working on a thread that will prove there are multiple sources that reference 2012. So far none of these threads have been created. So will you be the first to meet the challenge?

All civilizations need these doomsday fears...it's almost as though the fear feeds some type of logic for them. Even the non-believers. . .there is an appetite that must be entertained and it is common among the members of a society to denote an end day. The fear of an end-time makes finite what we take for granted.

Does society function better knowing, or thinking they know, a final day?

I guess it might help to better identify just what it means to "know" or believe in a doomsday. What needs are being met by this knowledge? What is the process an individual endures before he or she comes to accept that a final day of existence, so he or she believes, will come?

With more questions than answers, I'm not so sure my input has amounted to much.

The facts are that major things HAVE happened on Earth before, major wipe outs, major cataclysmic events, local (earthquake, tsunami, volcano etc) and international (comet /meteor hits), major shifts in ways of thinking (religions / enforced politics) that are still very rightly in the collective consciousness of people and nations.

This collective consciousness is a very good survival tool and the fact that Russia and many other nations have kept a lot of their folk memories and traditions via story telling and passing down information that is good for the survival of continuing generations is a good thing, they are being aware of the environment in ways that some nations people's have forgotten how to. Those that have suffered hardships, that live in extreme climates are more tuned to nature and their survival instincts are sharper. Chances are they are being sensitive to natural sixth sense energies and are rightly believing in their instincts.

The fact that a percentage maybe be over reacting will only be known in hindsight, there are so many possibilities that COULD happen, from actual physical events, geographical or otherwise, or paradigm shifts, major political shifts etc, these things aren't always the domain of intellectual analysis, there are many things that affect humanity that science doesn't really know of yet that brings about major shifts in ways of life for people.

Being prepared is being cautious and acting on instincts. The fact that some companies may be cashing in on this with tours etc is also human nature and par for the course.

Actually, they were able to calculate a 25800 year cycle using only the stars. Then they created a calendar around it. Pretty Impressive...

“The 2012 AD conjunction is one that involves the earth, sun, and the galactic equator, specifically at a time when the earth is at the winter solstice (northern hemisphere) point of its orbit, at a seasonal extreme. Now, an event of this sort certainly does not occur every year, but rather once only every 25800 years. And this is due to a very subtle celestial motion: precession.”

Let the fattys have their cake.
I'm hoping all the face slappingly stupid people in this world commit mass suicide.
Hey, maybe that's the "big change" or the "shift in consciousness" the Mayans were on about? Finally common sense will prevail!

Your source is wrong. The apparent alignment between the Sun, Earth, and galactic equator occurs twice every year. For the past few decades it has occurred on the solstices. It will continue to occur on the solstices for a few years more. In fact this year's alignment isn't even the most accurate. That was back in 1998.

Thousands? I guess in any country at any given time there are one or two thousand people stocking up their rooms or basements with supplies for one reason or another. Does not sound like a hysteria to me.

If anything americans are the ones that like to stock up on ammunitition and guns, while holding a bible and saying israel is only for jews. The muslims are out to get everyone.....run for your life and lets nuke iran while we are at it.

Russians are mild mannered people who do not like excesses.

If the Mayans were so clever, surely they would have seen their own demise looming and made arrangements to get the hell outta Dodge? There is only hype about it because there is hype about it. I remember 09/09/1999 - my birthday. The millenium bug was going to wipe us out. There was nothing about 2012 back then, from what I remember and I have had an interest in such things for many years...as a hobby. Then there was New Year 1999/2000 at the end of the millenium even though technically the end of the millenium was 2000/2001.

I am open to the idea that there will be an awakening on the 21st of December. No, wait. The awakening will happen on the 22nd when all those that believed the world was going to end will wake up and realise what idiots they have been. I cannot help but see some irony in that.
