...99 characters to title a thread...

(in the tune of 99 bottles of beer on the wall, for those that didn't get that)

There have been plenty of times that I have seen a thread title get cut off due to exceeding the 99 character limit (spaces included), presumably inadvertently. Understandably one may have to (due to T&C's) be required to title a thread verbatim from a source article so this little tid-bit of information is more for those that create their own threads.

I have a mild form of OCD (un-diagnosed) with regards to grammatical correctness and a need to create a thread with an ease of readability when it comes to ATS and writing in general for that matter. So I figured I would create this thread in order to give awareness to fellow members in regards to a thread's title field maximum character capacity. Which is, as of the authoring of this thread, 99 characters.

Instead of trying to manually count each character here is the way I do it. Open MS Word (I used MS Office 2010 for the following example) and paste your title. Then click on Review>Word Count and you will get a box that gives you your character counts, like so...

This will give you a quick count of characters and assure you won't go over the title character max.

Now you won't have thread titles that cut off prematu

Happy ATS'ing!
