How Did The Ancients Teleport using Tayy al Ard?

If any of you have ever read up on it, the name of the action in Arabic is:

Tayy al-Arḍ (Arabic: طيّ الأرض‎ "folding up of the earth") is the name for thaumaturgical teleportation in the mystical form of Islamic religious and philosophical tradition. This obviously requires no tech in hand, but some claim it is triggered vocally, although no instruction on how to set a destination are given. Does anyone else have info on the subject?

I was wondering if this is some kind of portal/warp tech, that is built in on the planet. Focus on where to go and speak the word. Imagine if there are beings on the earth using this. Kind of like the Adjustment Bureau.
