Noticed there was a 4.7 earthquake 149 miles from the site the day before. Perhap this shook something up?

It makes sense for emergency service to be trained to handle accidents should they occur.

I don't know about what if anything happened at the plant in Iran, but I can tell you this article from Debka was written by somebody who either doesn't understand reactor operations or is fabricating nonsense.

An "immediate shutdown" is called a scram and is usually automatic due to some emergency condition with the reactor.

Operators would rarely initiate such an emergency from the control room to shut the plant down except in the most dire circumstances. They could however take the plant "off line" and begin a cool down process that then leads to a "cold shutdown state". Like turning off your oven there is still residual heat that must be removed from the core first. Only then could they open the reactor pressure vessel and the reactor core vessel itself.

There is nothing "immediate" about removing fuel rods in a planned shutdown or a scram. The rods are thermally as well as radioactively hot and its non sensical to expect this to occur if they are trying to find "some external parts" that fell in(?) or came loose(?) below and outside the reactor core vessel. They wouldn't need to remove the fuel rods to look for external parts "below the fuel rods".

Doesn't make sense the way they portray it.
