We'll just have to wait until they show up and tell us.

i always put this idea first why? genetic havest
as maybe we have done so much damage to our dna in the future
that we needed to come and get some undamaged DNA

If they are proven to exist, with the full confidence of the entire scientific community, maybe. If all we continue to know of them is the he said she said reports that we have thus far accumulated, then there is no way to confirm their existence at all, and until thier existence is proven, they may as well be figments of the collective imagination.
If they do exist, then it is impossible to say wether they are truely alien, without asking them where they are from. Although to clarify, if they are not of terran origin then they would of course be aliens. At that point we come to the last bits of your question.
Are they from within or without our solar system/galaxy/(insert volume of space pertaining to your tastes)? And once again we are left with the total inability to comment on this matter without being at massive risk of fallacy, outright invention, or ill informed prattling. There is, as of this moment, no accurate and unquestionably genuine information on that issue what so ever, which is not much of a shock, since the FACT file for that, is precisely as empty as that of the question of the existence of the greys in the first place.

I believe that there are many "types" of greys, both our ones, that they make in dumbs and underground facilities, some of which may have ancient ET dna from earth and contributed by the solar system, and real ETs and human, Dolphin, Plant. They have advanced cloning down below and create ETs for walk ins. Not saying all the souls are ET, but then if you've read antar's thread on the lower astrals and how there was a pentagon at area 51 according to someone interviewed or gave the info somehow to Coast To Coast site a few years ago. So, just where are they drawing in the souls from, possibly the Star Wars realms or lower ones.
In any case, the standard greys don't really look like aborted fetus's and those ones do, I forgot to mention that in their cloning.
But its still hard to say, what a "real" grey looks like. I've seen a few, 2 while awake, the others glimpses of memory of abductions so, more altered state. Even the 2 while awake where of different types. And 2 of my children described their sighting while awake. So that is 3 different types, theirs was more like this:

Then as an adult the one I saw at the door, before dreams of an abduction that took 9 days from what was said, and my second oldest had a sensation of the room jarring/spinning, and being dropped off, when I came down to check on him upon awakening.
There is no picture like that online. It was a dusky darkish rose color, not pale pinky like in the roswell type ones. It was almost flower like, in color, so possibly plant type dna. It was the same height then of my son who was 8 April or May 2010.
He had not so fat a head, very delicate long narrow head alot like my sons and very delicate features, no nose really, tiny mouth, eyes big and slanted, and they looked like sunglass lenses without a frame. He struck me as very delicate and slender.
His body was twig like, all the other pics are fleshed out, this was almost a true twig body. And he leapt to the side and his limbs elongated. Later asking Lou Baldin on his site, he said he would be a projection, that when we see ET in the flesh, the real kind, not our black op kind, they project in. They move unlike anything you can imagine. I've seen shadows outback that size/shape and move, just rapid, can seem almost imperceptible.
In anycase, this type of ET grey, ET_MAN said was more like a universal maintenance worker, no one chooses that look, they're more like AI body suits, so like in Sleeper/Lou Baldin's accounts, and his books too, they can drop them like a pair of clothes. Some operate in AI interactive fashion but are truly toasters, ie, AI is not conscious, like our science seems to think possible, but a true, highly intelligent, way over our heads, program. They can also be interacted out of, or in, like clothing, so maybe a bit like avatar, or controlled intelligently somehow, in which case, you can feel the presence of soul or a person, or it seems like that anyway. And it can be both sides, using this technology or maintenance worker, so Good Guys/Love and Negative/Darth Vader side.
ET_MAN, without being told about my family, described my mother, and her soul basically, and my son's missing time in the kitchen, and even who I was involved with in part at one point, both nordics and greys at different times, though they can be working together, for like I said they were technicians/maintenance workers.
