What I don't understand is why aren't the progressives here dancing and saying, "Suck it up, Buttercup, we WON! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!"

The opposition is disorganised.

We're arguing about different things.

Sequestration? Not even being talked about.

Debt ceiling increase? Not a damned word.

Taxes? We're all focused on that and ignoring the spending increases that Obama is pushing!!!

We need to get our act together!

As ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, Frank blocked tightened oversight over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, saying in 2003, “These two entities … are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” and, “I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing.”

SO, he speaks about both fannie and freddie, not facing any financial issues.

He helped lay the foundation. Not to mention the Dems that helped it as well.

I am just glad I don't have to own this mess. I can clearly know that I did not vote for this. I wish all of us the best, but I will not take responsibility for the what the future will bring for the next four years. All I can hope for is that me and mine will survive nicely. For those that voted for this, you got it. Now fix it!

Talk about putting more logs into the fire! That's what Geithner's plan is. He is definitely out of touch. What a tool for the NWO plan for Global Governance and to steal our money while they continue all the wars and secret operations and underground base construction so that they have somewhere to go when they unleash mass destruction on us poor schmucks. And it is all packaged in this "soak the rich to pay for the poor" veneer. The poor will be even worse off when the SHTF. Oh wait, I think it already has, but people are not recognizing the poo flung in their faces. They embrace it heartily saying oh give us more more more. We want even more govt control over our lives. Oh yes please raise taxes more and take more out of my paycheck to fix all these problems. Yes, please control how much electric I can consume by bankrupting coal, oh yes yes yes(in varying shades of Meg Ryan).

Why am I getting an image resembling the last scene from Thelma and Louise in my mind except it's Obama and Geithner in the car?

National suicide anyone?
Obama is trying to completely destroy the last vestige of our traditional form of governance.
Not that I love what we've had but it sure beats the great unknown.
(though I suspect it resembles what we've seen in the Soviet Union and China during the last century)
Is it safe to yell "Commie!" yet?
(don;t take that too literally, the Obama administration is far more like National Socialism, I know)
I just want to vent is all.

I've written off Boehner and the rest. I imagine if we put all of congress together, we'd end up with half a spine.

This new "budget" deal (budget, what a joke to even call it that) is the final nail in the coffin of the GOP.

CONGRESS has control here!

CONGRESS has not had a balanced budget EVER!

Blame Obama or Democrats if that is what you do, but accept some responsibility for your own party NEVER passing a balanced budget.

Maybe working 2 days out of 30 is too tough for these fat bureaucrats? I don't know. Maybe their ideology is so skewed they can't make a rational decision? Maybe their lobbyists are threatening them? Maybe their bosses won't let them bend on the tax breaks they enjoy? Maybe they are just A-HOLES. I don't know!

I say screw them all! Fire ALL OF THEM! Cut all benefits. Cut all programs. Make corporations like GE and XOM PAY TAXES like EVERYONE ELSE! Why coddle billionaires? Because they bribe the Congress. Face facts.

Democrats want programs and Republicans want cash for their rich friends. They all suck. This is like Groundhog Day, a never ending repeat of the same old scenario.

We need to get over this rep/dem BS. We all know what to expect from both by now, nothing new here. We are officially INSANE since we keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

Get rid of lobby money! Get rid of Political money altogether! Make elections truly democratic. No more war for profit. No more CIA funded terrorist organizations. No more incentives for Bain to ship all of the union jobs to China. No more unemployment. No more social programs. No more healthcare. No more idiotic studies to keep a doctorate recipient busy after school.

Some REAL common sense would be great, but we will never see it with the current system.

There's something wrong with that guy Geithner, I don't like him and from what I've gathered he has a very shady background. Obama should have replaced him a long time ago.

Yes, he does. His family has connections to Obama's grandparents and to Frank Marshall Davis. Why would Barack even want to replace someone who has such close family and business ties? Geithner is doing exactly what Barack wants.

"destroy the last vestige of our traditional form of governance"?????....Obama wants to raise taxes on the wealthy to what they were during clinton...don't you think your statement is a little hyperbolic, even for a person like you, that clearly doesn't agree with this president?
doesn't it occur to you that he already knows his budget is dead on arrival...just like all the other presidential budgets that have been presented to congress over the last few decades?

If we are talking about laying a foundation for the crisis, I would again have to refer back to the Gramm-Leack-Bliley act that repealed Glass-Steagel years before Frank made that statement.

Barney Frank may have compounded the problem, but both Democrats and Republicans screwed us by deregulating the banks.

In the end, Barney Frank has been the distraction used to keep the eyes off of the real cause that both parties had a hand in. If you are really concerned about this issue, you would not be blaming Frank....instead criticizing those that supported Gramm-Leach-Bliley.

Please see my previous posts. Barney Frank is the Red Herring. The real problems lie within both parties and the acts that I mentioned.

Actually, that's not entirely true. This is the debt chart I made and helpfully illustrated with political control lines for the White House, Senate and House across the years. Bill Clinton oversaw budgets passed that not only balanced but literally did run at a surplus for just a few short years. Then Bush came along and introduced us to debt with an attitude. Then Obama arrived and now debt is simply too large to quanitfy, literally.

The projections on 2013 forward are based on the White House 2013 proposed Budget and projections based on assumptions they generated. That was put together before thinks like a near half trillion a year from QE-3 were added to the mix, so projected future numbers are higher than shown.

It has been GAME OVER ever since 9-11-2001, when media and the judicial system completly covered up the false flag treacherous genocide that killed nearly 3,000 innocent folks in washington dc and nyc. This lead to DHS and the patriot act, which not only has been a tremendous waste of funds and an uncalled for breach of privacy and comfort, but that soon led to two major middle eastern wars; one in afghanistan and one in iraq. WMD were never proven in iraq other than trace amounts of chemical weapons. In afghanistan the taliban and alqueda were only threats and no action, much like a dog that barks and barks but does nothing else. Nearly a million people got killed civilians and military personel for no good reason other than military industrial complex expansion and big business rebuilding contracts.

Then we had the house mortgage crisis where anyone could go get a loan for any house they wanted with barely any background checks done. The mortgages were sold off to investment companies were they were bundled up and sold as derrivates to naive investors that were fraudulenty rated as AAA by moodys and insured by AIG. When the real estate property bubbles burst, the derivates became toxic assets and worth a small fraction their original value, but AIG had them insured and had to pay out as much as it could. That caused AIG to go under and the federal government to come to its rescue with tax payer guaranted money. I mean it was one scam after another scam after another scam. You can hardely call them mistakes!

Big business all around needed to be bailed out as the recession deepend to a depression, with trillions of dollars loaned to business and the federal reserve not even telling us where it went, with few exceptions. The defecit has doubled since the clinton era; basically 8 trillion in the hole in just the last decade alone. But with so many wars and bailouts it is hardely any suprise. The media could not give a fat # about anything as they covered up scandal after scandal. I blame the media for 90% of the total responsibility as they have NOT acted as the fourth estate should have. One could say it has been all encompassing conspiracy to bring america to its knees, then wait for the piigs nations to collapse so that the illuminati can have the perfect excuse to implement its digital global currency and the UN(imf) to seize as many american assets as possible. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer; but has been like that throughout history. The left is not inventing class warfare as the right constantly accusses them of.

Who cares what timothy geithner wants? It is too late to do anything about it now. Might as well keep the sinking ship afloat as much as possible before it goes down and many drown. I find hypocritical of the right to pretend they are for small government, when they are the primary zionist war mongers that allowed 9-11 to happen and were "oh so quick" to capitalise on the misfortunes of others!
