A Romanian man was arrested after smuggling a home made machine gun into a nuclear power plant. The man, Eleodor Covaliu, a locksmith at the plant, was given $3 to bring in the gun and hide it in the plant by an unknown person. Romanian police have arrested a man after he smuggled a handmade machinegun into the country's sole nuclear power plant hidden in a bag, a private TV station said on Friday.

The 31-year-old man, a locksmith at the 750-megawatt reactor on the river Danube in Cernavoda identified as Eleodor Covaliu, told investigators that a person offered him 100,000 lei ($3) to smuggle the bag into the plant and hide it there.

"I've been asked to tie it (the bag) up with sticky tape and plant it inside," Covaliu told Realitatea TV. "I would have earned 100,000 lei."
