I'll go with a timely one, since most of the historical goodies have been plucked.

"When you look at this final agreement that we came to with the White House, I got 98 percent of what I wanted. I'm pretty happy," Boehner said in an interview with CBS News on Monday evening.

Republican House Leader John Boehner Speaking in August 2011 on the deal cementing the "Fiscal Cliff".

People thinks that sounds dumb?

Truth in those words we have done more harm to ourselves than any "terrorist".

That's a heck of an agreement.
Talk about compromise.

“What we have now seen is leaders come together and establish a framework for global governance. Not a world government, but sensible governance. If these measures are enacted, we continue to move forward with the G-20 process, we will have the kind of global government—governance—that is necessary to ensure the stability and transparency of markets in a way that gives us the benefits of a globalized market economy without the enormous risks that we, ah, that we have, ah, experienced in the last couple of years.”

Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada at the G-20 in Pittsburg

Oh right, “global governance”, not to be confused by a “world government.” Two completely different things.

And to ensure “stability” and “transparency,” huh? Such as signing us onto huge contractual agreements, in secret, which allow for corporations to appeal the decisions of our national courts?

I always remember the Saddam Hussein quote in the papers talking to the West prior to the first Gulf War. His Quote:

"this (coming war) is not going to be like a Rambo film, it will be long, bloody and terrible.."

I cannot find a link to back up this quote from the BBC but not to let the truth get in the way of a good story...
