I'm with Slayer on this one.

It was either a FCS prototype, but those are fairly tall.

Or it was a failed prototype headed off to a museum.

I've heard rumors that they are transporting much of the Patton Museum to Benning. Since that is the new armor school.

A whole lot warmer. I don't know about the top of the turret, but that looks like what I saw, only it was painted brown.

The picture that Slayer put up is almost exactly what I saw. I don't know if it had the same top of the turret like that one, but I wasn't looking closely at every part of it, as it went by pretty fast. Now my question is, what the heck is in that picture, because I think that might be it.

Ironically - we have what may be the first legit UFO in awhile on ATS...

Heff... what the hell is that thing you posted on page one? Is that a double stacked turret? Are those twin linked cannon? What the heck!? Its like they couldnt figure out wether to make a gun for a tank or a battleship!

Sounds like you may have seen some kind of new or next generation tank technology.... They have come a long way. We now have stealth technology tanks developed by Britain's (BAE) systems.
Kinda doubt it was this tank but non the less worthy of checking out?
I'd be interested in seeing what ATS thinks of this new tech and how it may be implemented? What do you guys think about this?

You're thinking of the AR/AAV Sheridan tank. I was with OPFOR at Ft Knox and we had quite a few mocked up to resemble Soviet tracks. Great little tanks!

Nope, Old 19D here and I do know my tanks. AAI put out a auto-loading high velocity 75mm back in the early eighties for eval. It didn't pan out. We also liked the Stingray better than the 'ol M551 as it was more reliable. The Sheridan was just getting to maintenance intensive for the Eighty Duece.

Sadly, the 3/73 Armor (ABN) is no more, to the best of my knowledge, it's been two years since I retired. Last I saw it was the 3/73 Cav.

I know a VISMOD when I see one.

The more I look at this one the more convinced I am that this might be what I saw. The angles, and the gap between the turret seem right, and the clean turret looks right. I really wish he had been going the same way so I could have gotten pics of it, instead of passing me going the other way.
