I totally get that, the world is messed up and there are bigger things to worry about for your kids. There is no such thing as a perfect parent, I get that too. Its that reason, that until the world becomes a better place I have no plans to reproduce.

At this point in time if i didn't already have my family i would be of the same mind to be honest....
But here we are so as a parent it's my job to prioritise perceived threats and i feel i do that to the best of my ability...

At my house on Christmas day the present opening lasts for a short time....the rest of the day is focussed around family and being thankful for each other...and believe me we know the value of that more than most

Oh no, Please do mind the "endlesswars, poisons, toxic waste polluting the planet". Those things are so abundant because of mass deception. I don't see the baby boomers or generation x fixing much, they are too accustomed to this deceitful lifestyle. Yeah I'm worried about kids being raised properly, if anyone ever does try to fix things who do you expect to clean up this gigantic mess.

I am always amazed at what the average American will believe. The whole 911 day...the GMO situation...Bin Laden was shot and thrown in the ocean immediately....

The list goes on and on, but I think the reason for everyone just believing this stuff with out a fight has nothing to do with Santa Clause.

I really do understand your point, lol, and if we want to really get technical many Christmas customs came from Pagen celebrations that were incorporated into Christian customs. When you really investigate the whole matter it's really quite "jaded", certainly not stories most would share with young children.

As for Santa Claus, there was an actual man named St. Nickolas, he was a wealthy religious man that used to show up under cover at night and leave food, clothes and money for poor families, his acts of kindness became an inspiration to others to practice random acts of generosity...and many believe his story are the orgins of how Santa Claus came to become a legend.

I absolutely agree with others here who dislike how commercial Christmas has become, and probably one of the most important things we can teach our children is the meaning of Christmas is about Love and Goodwill to others, not how many gifts "Santa" brings them.

When the time came to have the "Is Santa Real" talk, I told my child the same thing my folks told me....Santa is a "concept" based on a real man that was very kind, and his acts became a custom that people kept alive in thier hearts to bring joy to children...she was fine with that and she gladly kept up the "illusion" with her younger cousins...she felt quite special to be in on the grown-ups "secret" of being one of Santa's helpers...

I'm not 100% sure where I stand on this because I have such wonderful memories of Christmas and Father Christmas-as we call him here in the UK. A part of me cherishes the wonderment and magic that we thought he brought but then I also feel it is a little cruel. I am a dreamer though and I guess I was probably disappointed alot more than most considering everything else as well.

We, honestly, downplay Santa to such a degree that our kids do not even care about him. We have a secret "Santa is a douchebag" phrase (not a secret anymore). Santa gets our kids the stocking and that is all. Santa does not get the credit for what we have worked hard to get our kids. Our kids know Santa is not real and came to that thought all by themselves. Sorry, I refuse to occupy my time with commercialism, and I refuse to occupy my kid's time with false hopes of a fat man that allows you to sit on his lap and whisper what you want in his ear. Santa is perverted, gross, not a good use of imagination in my opinion. I honestly think that this holiday is wrong in every way, no Im not bitter, I love hanging out and having the tree, and the presents, and the family, but I just dont like what it stands for now. This commercial thought of happiness is just grotesque.

I knew that Santa was fake when I was little and I was not affected by it, nor was my partner.

one of my fondest childhood memories is sneaking out of my room at 3:00 am christmas eve to look at the tree.....and there were presents under the tree !!!

it was like magic, dad had left the tree lights on so the room was lit in christmas glory

I have visited Rovaniemi myself and seen Santa in the place in the vid....I have to say it was one of the best experiences of mine and my daughters life.It's a beautiful place.... i only remember there being a handful of daylight hours before it went dark ...but as you say that just made it all the more special seeing Santa's village all lit up.We even got to drive snowmobiles and have reindeer sleigh rides and husky dog sled rides.Forget Disneyland and the likes.....Rovaniemi must be the most magical place on the planet!

Right okay....i shall try and reign in my enthusiasm and excitement! lol

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, rich people ACTUALLY CAN go visit Santa at (not) the North Pole. I'll say this much for it, at least its obviously fake. You take a kid there who is already questioning the idea and I'm sure they would leave knowing it was bs all along. Why not just take them to Disney Land or idk... camping!? I can imagine the car ride there, "OK kids, now as you know were going to visit a place called Rovaniemi. Before we arrive though I have abit of a spoiler alert.."

Not if you have a "Do as I say, not as I do" style of parenting. Then no, it isn't substantianted but otherwise, yeah it kinda is. Teaching them to be honest and lying to them at the same time is completely hypocritical, and they remember that.

He and his sister figured out Santa Claus pretty early on, but we had a small house at the time and I waited until late Christmas Eve to wrap things and they heard the noise of that...

what a very strange conversation that all was. many people said it much better than me, but I too am pleased to find that I am not alone in these thoughts. the best response I thought of (as the dialogue continued in my head throughout the day) is "well of course you liked it! you were supposed to like it!"

it makes me a little sad because I have not participated in the festivities AT ALL for five years now. I wouldn't mind having a celebration, if it were under terms that I could agree with. in this thread, many have imagined that I (and you) do not have happy Santa memories. I do. I liked it. I was supposed to like it.

The vid just shows Santa sat at a chair....It doesn't show the entire experience.
And as far as the celebrity comment goes... to be fair most the celebrities that go there around Christmas time are there to volunteer and support various wish making charities, who fly children with life threatening or terminal illnesses to Lapland.Perhaps we should shatter their dreams also....i mean a lie is a lie...why should we allow these children any way out from their torturous existence albeit briefly with fairy tale nonsense?......

As I've implied before I bring up my children as i see fit....and i feel no need to defend my methods or decisions.As you have already mentioned 1/2 Nephilim you don't have any kids and have no desire to for the time being....so I'm honestly beginning to wonder why you feel so passionately about the subject as it doesn't even effect you? That was an observation and wasn't meant as an unkind remark.
