Are the PTB milking the 2012 prophecies?

I am constantly hearing people say that they "feel" something in the air, a sense of foreboding of imminent collapse or catastrophe. I too have some nervousness about the upcoming date with "doom" and as I questioned myself about how and why this is I think I may have found the answer.

The Mayan calendar, Nostradamus, the Revelation of St. John, the Mahdi and dozens of other prophets and memes are endlessly repeated on both the web and through the MSM through articles, movies, documentaries etc. It's everywhere, no one can deny that. Why is this so? Is it just that fear sells and we as a society are addicted to our doom porn and TEOTWAWKI? Is this simply the modern version of monster movies and fairy tales of giants that eat children?

When we look at what major events are going on in the world today there is a pattern that becomes abundantly clear; whether it's war in the middle east, revolutions, economic collapse, the rise of GMO foods, climate change, chemtrails or police state every last one of these is not an organic, natural response by people but something imposed from the top down - from governments, the UN, World bank, think tanks, mega banks etc. It's the bigwigs at the top pulling the strings and either making these events happen, declaring the imminent danger or such or exaggerating the effects to a degree that people have become preoccupied or completely consumed by them.

I contend that the PTB have been actively manipulating events around us so as to immobilize the populace with fear.

Most of the problems going on right now could be resolved were the PTB agreeable to doing so but why should they? Aren't we much more easily controlled and distracted from their criminal activities if we're busy prepping or watching shows like Blueprint for Disaster or Doomsday Bunkers?

Even natural disasters such as hurricanes, tsunamis and tornadoes have admittedly grown stronger and more devastating in recent years. Could it be that they are also able to manipulate our weather in ways that few can even begin to comprehend? I'm solidly on the fence about the subject myself but try to keep and open mind about the possibility of it being real.

What say you? Have the PTB been manipulating us all along and are now getting ready for some major move to coincide with the Mayan calendar or is this just all odd coincidence and bad timing that will blow away with the wind when 2013 rolls around?

what i do know is plenty of ATS members suddenly felt like milking 2012 threads too, figures there's not much time left.

i don't have much use for any sort of calendar these days.

Funny thing I hate calendars and clocks.
That's why I've stayed self-employed most of my life.
I never could adjust the idea that a few minutes time meant the difference between staying employed or getting fired.
