Social workers near Rotherham have decided that supporting the UKip party amounts to racism and hence grounds to remove children from foster parents.

The UKip wants the UK to leave the EU and is critical of mass immigration and political correctness.

Some polls place its support as high as 9%.

UKip Wikipedia
UKip

The husband and wife, who have been fostering for nearly seven years, said they were made to feel like criminals when a social worker told them that their views on immigration made them unsuitable carers.

...just under eight weeks into the placement, they received a visit out of the blue from the children’s social worker at the Labour-run council and an official from their fostering agency. They were told that the local safeguarding children team had received an anonymous tip-off that they were members of Ukip.

The wife recalled: “I was dumbfounded. Then my question to both of them was, 'What has Ukip got to do with having the children removed?’ “Then one of them said, 'Well, Ukip have got racist policies’. The implication was that we were racist. [The social worker] said Ukip does not like European people and wants them all out of the country to be returned to their own countries.

The Telegraph

The UKip stands on a platform of withdrawing from the EU, a policy that is very popular amongst the electorate in the UK. By no stretch of the imagination could it be be called a racist party.

Ukip was once considered a single-issue fringe party but is now part of Britain’s political mainstream, with some recent national polls putting its support as high as nine per cent.

Its manifesto includes a demand for Britain to pull out of Europe and to curb immigration. It is also critical of multiculturalism and political correctness.

The party has three peers in the House of Lords, all defectors from the Conservatives, and 12 MEPs, although it has never won a seat in the Commons.

The Telegraph

This is worrying. I personally don't support the UK leaving the EU but neither do I regard the UKip as a racist party.

Who are social workers to tell people which political parties they are allowed to support?

Ukip has a black candidate in the forthcoming Croydon North by-election.

No surprise to hear this, the UK has been in full Big Brother mode for a while now. Tommy Robinson of the EDL was jailed just because of his politics. Ransacked his residence, no evidence, trumped up new charges, still threw him in jail.

So... "human services case worker makes moronic politically correct decision".
Must be a slow news day.

But seriously, just another in a long line of efforts to completely expunge any sense of Britishness from the British population.
Its why a lot of WW2 soldiers nowdays wonder why they even bothered fighting.

Not surprised, after all this is a Labour run council, so is left-leaning anyway on top of the already heavily-left influenced environment within Social Services.

They'd probably do the same to Tory supporters if they felt they could get away with it, but I feel this might actually work in UKIP's favour by showing the other parties as the morons they are....

Not really any surprise here...

The only surprise I feel is that it does not happen more often in some areas than it already does.

Makes my blood boil, UKIP a racist party?

They support controlling immigration, so do the Tories but never do anything about it.

Yes we should leave the EU, 53 million a DAY for what, to be told what laws we are allowed to use in our own country, ffs.

Look at the rebate figures,

Poland, 4bn in, 14bn rebate
France, 19bn in, 14bn rebate

And us,

UK, 13.5bn paid in, 6bn back

Ignore the rebates, we can't even negotiate our own EU trade deals, they do it for us while we sit out side, literally.

But what a stroke of big brother going on, be a foster parent BUT ONLY if you follow who we like, 10yrs of solid foster parenting dashed because of a disgusting political agenda. Both plumped up suit leaders from both supposed 'main' parties should be both distancing themselves and condemning this stupid council.

Great Britain, yeah right.....Maybe a hundred years ago...

I wonder if those judging this family as racist would themselves be willing to take these children into their own homes?

I suspect they would come up with the bollix notion that they are not suitable foster parents as they could not give the children the right cultural setting

A notion that always leaves me scratching my head as though these people think we are so naive to think these children would get such a cultural setting being dumped in a childrens' home and left to fend for themselves.

Sorry if I am not making sense, but these things do leave me feeling deeply ranty..

UKIP dont want all Europeans out of the Country as far as I know..... they just want to control Immigration more as it has got out of hand and Britain is becoming over-populated or is already over-populated!!

I agree to an extent that immigration needs to be controlled!!

I am Mixed Race and voted for UKIP last election.... would this mean I wouldn't be able to adopt a child if I wanted??

Anyway why do they want Europeans to go back when there are far more Middle Easterners in Britain than Europeans?? I would rather see no more Religious Fanatics here than anyone else who is coming in.

Such idiotic political correctness can only help the UKIP to grow.

Ukip support at record levels over European Union

first article i watched on the jolly box this morning.

the welfare of the children should be the main concern of all parties here. to remove them because of the foster parents affilliation with ukip is a nasty tactic. the services involved should be hauled over coals for this and the clear fact that the disruption to the children cannot be measured in terms of bonding and security with the foster parents leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth.

as another poster stated, more publicity for ukip.

Yet another exposure of how wrong the political system is in the UK, and yet another glaring sign that will be ignored by the apathetic masses.

An interesting note, which slipped me by, if anyone is interested in some sort of angle anyway, is that there just happens to be a by-election for Parliament in Rotherham on Thursday......

Something tells me there might be a surprise or two in store in that election... At the very least, the local Labour Party have certainly shot themselves in the foot by doing this just 2 weeks before an election....

I hope you are correct.

I am however shocked at the extent that the politically correct mindset has set in amongst sections of the UK population. Specifically amongst those who are clients of the state (drawing income &/or status from the state) and who then naturally tend to vote labour.

Friend told me about this story and i thought she was pulling my leg. Removing children from a fostering home because the careers have political beliefs that are not mainstream? A huge slap in the face to democracy eh?

I think its an absolute joke and whoever at social services took the "tip off" seriously, should be sacked, at the least disciplined. What an idiot.

Tommy Robinson has been arrested for violence and trying to enter the USA on a false passport. Nothing to do with his political beliefs.

On topic this is a worrying story. I'm no fan of UKip, but don't view them as racist, I support any foster parents willing to provide a loving home for any child.

I think UKIP can be considered mainstream, you know. The Education Sec yesterday described them as such and they command a sizeable amount of votes at pretty much every election, just not enough concentrated in an area to unseat the big 3, however, that is changing and publicity like this can only be good for the Party.

Off topic:

My only worry is, as the party grows it will become filled with the same type of greedy self-serving MP's who will yet again screw over the tax payer.

Michael Gove enters row over removal of Ukip foster parents' children

Education secretary brands Rotherham council social workers' actions as indefensible.

The education secretary, Michael Gove, has said he will launch an investigation into a council that removed three children from foster parents due to concerns about their membership of the UK Independence party.

Gove branded the council's actions as "indefensible" and said he would be personally investigating the situation.

Ed Miliband called for an urgent investigation into the case. He said: "Being a member of Ukip should not be a bar to adopting or fostering children. We need loving homes for children across the country. That can come in different forms, it's not about what political party you are a member of."

The Guardian

Both the Education Secretary and the Leader of the Opposition have attacked the decision by social workers to take the three children away from the foster parents on the grounds that the UKIP is racist.

Joyce Thacker, strategic director of children and young people's services at the council has defended the action.

"The fact of the matter is I have to look at the children's cultural and ethnic needs. The children have been in care proceedings before and the judge had previously criticised us for not looking after the children's cultural and ethnic needs, and we have had to really take that into consideration with the placement that they were in."

The Guardian

The children's cultural and ethnic needs means that they can't be fostered with people who vote UKIP because the social workers have decided that the UKIP is racist?

Is the UK now an East German Stasi state?

Social Services generally represents the Supreme State, not the family. It is Marxian in its approach to destroying the family unit in a supposed effort to support the child. Karl Marx wrote in the Communist Manifesto that the bourgeois family exploits children.
